About the Position:
Texas Tool Belt is seeking a Data and Tech Specialist to join our team to support and move forward crucial projects through 2024 and beyond. This role will support programs helping to build reliable and sophisticated data infrastructure and systems. This will include reporting and tool creation, database administration and support, and voter targeting. We’re seeking candidates who can think quickly, adapt frequently, and develop creative, data-driven solutions to challenges as they arise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and organize short- and long-term data projects
Support multi-year, evergreen organizations to build, maintain, and create systems for data input and output that are friendly and support ongoing organizing and campaign efforts
Analyze and disseminate voter contact results, early vote and absentee turnout, voter registration, and other data relevant to campaigns
Create and automate reports on field program activities, employ these tools regularly to monitor progress toward goals, and proactively identify and flag issues as they come up.
Develop and present training materials as needed to staff on VAN, COS, Thrutalk, and other field outreach tools
Obtain, clean, and standardize large datasets
Identify external data sources and manage timely acquisition to supplement VAN data, such as polling locations, census demographics by county, etc.
Hire and manage temp data support staff as needed
Work with a project manager to prioritize business and information needs.
Test new or changing technology, applications, and systems to ensure maximum functionality
Participate in regular data calls, and client calls
Communicate with key external stakeholders of the organization in person, via the telephone, or email
Other duties, as assigned
Outcomes
All data projects are accurate and delivered on time
Analyses and reports are communicated to stakeholders clearly and concisely
Internal stakeholders and clients are empowered through access to first-rate data and analytics tools, such as project analysis and reporting systems
Preferred Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
Technical Skills: Advanced experience with VAN. Advanced knowledge of technical platforms that could include Excel, Census datasets, software for mapping (ArcGIS, QGIS,), reporting (Periscope, Tableau, etc.), and data management (Access, SQL, etc.)
Data Management: Knowledge of data management, database administration, reporting and analysis
Training skills: Ability to develop educational curriculums and train people with diverse opinions, interests, and skill levels
Racial Equity Lens: A commitment to an equity-based and inclusive work culture
Communication Prowess: Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences as well as nonpartisan civic engagement best practices to partners and other stakeholders
Self-Directed: Aptitude for being self-directed to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize tasks and work effectively. Also, be accountable to, and be part of, a team working toward common goals
Highly organized: A thoughtful, focused approach with superior follow-through and attention to detail
Experience managing relationships with vendors and Network Partners
Organizing or campaign field experience
This is a temporary full-time position
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 depending on experience
Start Date: August 2024
