Summary:
Leads assigned staff through the monthly close process, including issuing annual audited financial statements. Ensures that financial statements and financial reporting are of high quality through attention to detail, the use of analytical tools, and technical guidance. Ensures that financial reporting is completed in an accurate/timely manner, and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) standards. Provides leadership/mentoring to management and staff. Makes recommendations to senior leadership for policy enhancements to ensure optimal controls and efficiencies. Manages relationships with suppliers of goods and services to The MetroHealth System. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field. Currently a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). 6 years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting. 4 years of progressively responsible management experience. 2 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial reporting. Strong knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) or Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) standards. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills. Strong research and analysis skills, and the ability to apply them while forming position proposals on accounting issues. Excellent project management skills with experience in managing and supervising administrative projects. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with strong attention to detail. Willing/able to work additional hours as needed and approved by management (i.e. during the month-end close process). Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting. Experience in healthcare finance. Knowledge of GASB standards. Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Access.
Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
