ABOUT THIS POSITION
About This Position
The VP, Accounting works directly with our CFO on the direction, management and evaluation of all accounting activities to ensure timely preparation of financial and operational reports for management and other interested parties in compliance with all standards and regulations. This role will provide accounting guidance, ensure a strong control environment, and will be responsible for driving increased productivity, simplifying processes, and reducing costs through automation, standardization, and control enhancements.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
What You’ll Do
Drive execution of all accounting, reporting, control activities and ensure efficient, effective, reliable and timely performance of these activities in accordance with Company policy, procedure, standard business processes and U.S. GAAP
Oversee month, quarter and year-end closing processes, ensure timely delivery of accurate results and associated reporting, including SEC filings if Company operates in a public environment
Lead monthly meetings, develop common templates, maintain a continuously updated list of open accounting and control issues, and drive resolution to ensure Corporate requirements are met
Ensure account reconciliations are accurately prepared and reviewed on a monthly basis and peer-reviewed on a periodic basis in alignment with Company objectives
Direct all aspects of tax strategy, daily work, analysis and responses to any government queries surrounding federal & state income taxes, sales & use and quarterly and annual provisions
Support the planning and budgeting activities which are led by the Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis group
Develop and maintain high-quality relationships with key audit, tax, business system(s) and other applicable vendors
Drive productivity, continuous process improvement, and transformation in the accounting function to deliver greater efficiency and effectiveness
Continuously evaluate, mentor, coach and develop the team to achieve the highest standards of performance possible, both technically and in their ability to work in cross functional business partnership to deliver results
Ability to influence change across a matrixed organization without authority of necessary participants
Ability to illustrate the connection between individual work done by direct reports and subordinate team members to Waystar business objectives
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
What You’ll Need
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred
CPA certification required
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and best practices in accounting.
Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
