The Role As a Business Intelligence (BI) Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing business intelligence solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across organizations. The Architect will work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements. The role will involve creating data models, designing ETL processes, and designing dashboards and reports. The BI Architect will also be responsible for guiding the technical team and ensuring best practices are implemented for the BI solutions. The candidate should have a strong background in data warehousing, data modeling, and BI tools along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Work You'll Do Design, develop, and implement Business Intelligence and data analytics solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes, ETL processes, reporting, and visualization Create and optimize logical and physical data models to support reporting and analytics needs, ensuring data consistency and accuracy Design and build robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure efficient data flow and integration from various data sources Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, data scientists, and IT teams to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions Monitor and optimize BI solutions for performance, scalability, and security Evaluate, select, and integrate new BI tools and technologies to enhance analytics capabilities, staying current with industry trends and innovations Provide training, documentation, and support to users and data teams, promoting the effective use of BI tools, best practices and standards Lead and mentor a team of BI developers, analysts, and data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment Requirements Minimum of 8 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, or Data Architecture roles, with at least 3-5 years in a BI Architect or similar role Expertise in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms; proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL tools like SSIS, Talend, or Informatica In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and modern data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks) Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, including data storage, data pipelines, and analytics services Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to translate complex data into actionable insights Experience in establishing data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data security practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams Relevant certifications in BI tools, data architecture, or cloud platforms are a plus (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, AWS Certified Data Analytics, etc.) Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship Preferred Requirements Based in Chicago, IL and flexible to work from our Chicago office as needed Benefits Flexible PTO, monthly half-day refuels, volunteer time off, 10 paid holidays Own Your Day flexible work policy Competitive majority employer-paid benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K Match Employee Stock Ownership Plan Generous maternity/paternity leave options Completely employer paid Life Insurance, STD, LTD Charitable contribution matching program New client commission opportunities and referral bonus program Video-free Fridays Bike share discount program About AArete AArete is a global management and technology consulting firm specializing in strategic profitability improvement, digital transformation, and advisory services.
