SUMMARY:
The Director of Medical Staff Services and Medical Education oversees all activities for which the medical staff department is responsible regarding federal and state requirements, The Joint Commission, continuing medical education programs, Medical Staff bylaws, medical library, and medical department/section committees for the medical centers.This position sets the direction for graduate medical education (GME) and continuing medical education (CME) while coordinating the educational activities.
This position is responsible for the appointment and reappointment processes, and the privileging, credentialing and re-credentialing processes for Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows Medical Center Renown Rehabilitation Hospital, Hometown Health and other delegated credentialing contracts
The director serves as a liaison between the Hospital and Medical Staff for purposes of communicating requirements of the Hospital to the Medical Staff (and vice versa) and in keeping the Medical Staff apprised of legal requirements and current Medical Staff issues. This position manages all activities associated with accrediting agencies as applicable to the functions and services of the department.
MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education:Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.Bachelors degree required.Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience: Experience in physician relations and interaction is required.Five years management experience. Certification: Certification in NAMSS, CPMCM or CPCS is required within 24 months of hire. Computer/Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook,PowerPoint, Excel and Word andhave the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
This position is accountable for all functions that support the organized Medical Staff, including the appointment, reappointment and delineation of privileges.The role also supports organized Medical Staff activities required by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.The direction is expected to document and substantiate Medical Staff activities that support patient quality of care/safety of patient care delivery.
The Director oversees the operations of the department and its services, specifically, but not limited to, Administrative functions of the Hospital Medical Staff including parking, computer access, and residency issues.
