Job Summary:
Provide on-site direct behavioral health care to the agency’s adult consumers. Responsible for providing daily structure and coverage in the Progressive Achievement Center (PAC), which include but are not limited to daily living skills, life skills, health and exercise issues, behavior management and medication management. Directly involved in the vocational training of consumers. Performs therapeutic intervention teaching, Individual Habilitation Plan development, and documentation in an employment and/or vocational setting for the developmentally disabled consumers, some of whom may have a mental illness and/or physical or medical disabilities. Provides individualized teaching to adults in the skill areas of employment, socialization, community living, leisure and personal awareness, under the supervision of the Program Supervisor of PAC. Participates in the collection and analysis of training and vocational data. Vocational Skills Trainers act as liaisons and consumer advocates for community resources. Ensures that services are rendered in accordance with SERV Achievement Center ’s mission statement. Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment and adheres to all safety standards, Federal and State regulations and corporate policies. The Vocational Skills Trainer will cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation. Performs other duties as from time to time, be deemed appropriated by the supervisor.
Qualification Requirements:
High school diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred in the areas of psychology, social work and special education.
Valid driver’s license in the state of residence and a driving record in good standing.
Knowledge of current principles and principles and practices of behavioral health care, specific to the Developmentally Disabled and the Mentally Ill.
Experience with behavioral oriented programming.
Good reading, writing and communication skills.
Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an eight-hour day. Able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds and drive a company van for one to two hours a shift.
