We develop and execute groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms and enhance how audiences experience sports, entertainment & news.The Product Management team guides the strategy and vision for Disney’s incredible global digital products portfolio - from Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and the ESPN App to Marvel Unlimited, National Geographic, ABC and ABC News, and film websites and games. This team impacts the way millions of people around the world experience and engage with Disney’s iconic stories and unmatched content in more personalized and immersive ways, leveraging cutting-edge technologies ranging from Machine Learning to Extended Reality.
ResponsibilitiesBe the primary Product representative for Disney’s fully owned CDN, Disney Edge, driving global expansion, regional capacity, and novel technologies.Develop product roadmap for our in-house CDN, in partnership with engineering and infrastructure.Lead development of services supporting global content delivery across a variety of CDN vendors and platforms, balancing cost, quality, and emissions goals.Ensure our in-house CDN sits as a key player in our distribution mesh strategy, identify the primary areas where economic and strategic opportunities lie, and execute on those opportunities.Work across multiple functional business units to drive a cohesive product strategy to ensure aligned progress toward shared opportunities.Advocate for our in-house CDN within the Disney Streaming ecosystem, seek novel opportunities for partnership and collaboration, and unlock new organizational efficiencies and platform capabilities to drive customer engagement and improve our overall economics.Basic Qualifications7+ years of experience in product management or other relevant field.Familiarity with CDN (Content Delivery Network) technologies and infrastructure.Must possess a viewer-first mentality and strong opinions about good customer experiences.Demonstrated ability to use data to drive decisions and back up assumptions and recommendations.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work with engineering teams to discuss technical concepts, make tradeoffs to remove roadblocks, operate a successful delivery cadence, and evaluate new ideas.Basic understanding of networking principles, protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP), and video streaming technology (ABR, codecs, QoE/QoS)Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, networking, infrastructure and business strategy.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience in product management in one or more aspects of live and/or VOD media streaming, with strong direct experience in the CDN space.Hands-on experience with CDN tools and platforms (e.g., Akamai, Cloudflare, AWS CloudFront).Required EducationBachelor’s degree in a relevant field required
The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA & Bristol, CT is $149300- $200200 per year, in New York City, NY & Seattle, WA is $156300- $209600 per year and Bay Area, CA is $163500- $219200:The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
