Description of Duties and Responsibilities: The Shipping Manager is responsible for sustaining service levels in addition to the overall efficiency associated with the delivery of customer orders. Responsible for managing load building team activity, freight/transportation related to outbound shipments, and support of the value stream as a sub-process owner of the site's shipping value stream. Responsible for coordinating and supervising all traffic functions relating to freight movement into and out of the warehouse including the routing/expediting of shipments. Utilization of lean tools, LSW, problem solving huddles or DHP in support of the value stream. Responsible for root cause analysis related to shipment failures.Ownership of Shipping office functions and talent development, including management of a remote team. Responsible for sustaining value stream within the shipping sub-process. Responsible for maintaining shipping records, developing a professional business relationship with carriers, and developing cost control methods. Work closely with Corporate Transportation Management to develop and implement transportation policies and programs that meet cost and service objectives and customer requirements. Analysis of RFP performance at the site level. Partner with transportation to introduce enhancements as needed. Be aware of ISO procedures and Wire & Cable Quality System Procedures including Work Instructions. Support Service Center Manager with administrative and managerial tasks. Walk the floor, participate in huddles, and actively maintain an awareness of all CSC operations. Regular evaluation of the process map within the sub-process of the shipping value stream. Identify and develop high potential candidates for next level promotions. Qualifications and Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's degree preferred in distribution, logistics, business administration or related degree. * 3+ years directly related experience in distribution management or related field preferred. * A working knowledge of warehouse and transportation management systems is required. * Ability to function and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced operating environment is critical. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills required. * Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization, with business units throughout the company, and with partners across the supply chain. * Must be a strong team player with a firm, personal commitment toward the business and its customers. * Must be PC literate and have a good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
