If you have the qualities and drive to lead yourself or teams, there are roles ready to cultivate your skills and take you to the next level.Job Description:The Lead Systems Design and Integration Manager oversees the design certification and deployment of Plant Engineering (PE) real-time applications and hardware for technology solutions required in facilities. This position coordinates third level technical support cross-functionality to facilitate our domestic and international operations. He/She architects and engineers solutions that can be successfully integrated in plant floor control systems. This position provides future direction in plant floor control systems and technology to control costs and maintain a high level of performance throughout the PE systems enterprise. The Lead Systems Design and Integration Manager oversees the Plant Engineering Systems Integrators.He/She manages project lifecycles, including project scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment to see projects from beginning-to-end and forwards project documents to stakeholders to obtain sign-off, agreement on project costs, and needed resources. The ideal candidate will ensure affected functions or groups are identified and works with them to negotiate process changes, ownership of processes, and to manage project impact and designs and implements communication plans to ensure those affected by projects are informed and updated. The Lead Systems Design and Integration Manager reviews business requirements to understand the scope of projects, consults with engineers to discuss the feasibility of projects and reviews project objectives to assign the roles and responsibilities to project groups.Responsibilities:Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Quality Performance Review [QPR], Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures.Ensures that direct and indirect reports have documented career goals and detailed plans for achieving these goals to develop them personally and professionally.Conducts frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement. Consults with engineers to discuss the feasibility of projects.Remains on-call 24 hours a day to respond to technical issues or problems from internal customers.Reviews requests and works with team members to prioritize needs.Manages and develops tools for the integration and deployment group to ensure proper equipment is installed for project solutions.Coordinates application deployment with other PE groups to ensure that equipment is installed in an appropriate manner.Collaborates with operations and local management to make sure that end-users are able to properly use the equipment and/or software. e favorable terms for the company and to mitigate risks.Manages a team responsible for remediating reporting and programming inconsistencies.Provides Level 4 support for Buildings and Systems Engineering.Preferred CompetenciesApplies Database Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of database design principles; identifies users’ requirements and needs with guidance from others; demonstrates a basic understanding of the importance of maintaining and updating databases.Applies Information Systems Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of the basic need for technical support in a business; demonstrates awareness of the primary uses of technology by business representatives, demonstrates a basic understanding of the systems of the enterprise.Applies Internet Systems Knowledge: Understands UPS products, services, and internal systems: asks appropriate questions to gain clear understanding of system issues; documents and clearly communicate system issues to appropriate groups (e.g. Information Services, User Reps, TSG, system users, etc).Budget Management: Tracks expenditures against financial targets; describes impact of area’s budget on organizational financial plan.Conducts Research: Uses the research problem to guide relevant data gathering and benchmarking; develops a working knowledge of literature related to the research problem; minimizes personal biases that may impact the research process or outcomes; gathers data that represent all sides of the business case.Designs/Develops Integrated Solution to Business Problems: Demonstrates a basic understanding of a business problem; recommends a solution to solve the business problem.Project Management: Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.Project Planning: Develops and executes project management plans for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.Technology Implementation: Able to communicate designed and developed technology solutions and their desired outcome in general terms; expresses the importance of an effective implementation; develops implementation plans.Vendor/Supplier Management: Demonstrates a broad understanding of UPS and vendor business needs and goals; reviews and recommends appropriate vendors based on business needs to internal stakeholders; provides input into the creation of vendor contracts or agreements; communicates expectations to vendors.Qualifications:Must have a bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) or be a current UPS employee with a minimum of three years of UPS experience.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering ~ PreferredMust have experience developing and implementing project plans.Must have experience managing others.Must currently be in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself there.Ladder Logic/Structured Text Programming experience including troubleshooting, basic understanding of networks, motor control theory, and operation including basic AC and DC electrical troubleshooting - Preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and elementary diagrams.Internal Salary Grade: 30EEmployee Type:Permanent
