Job DescriptionWe are seeking a
Human Resources Classification Specialist
with experience in Federal position classification. This is a 100% remote position. Candidates who are selected from this announcement must reside in the United States and will be required to sign the company's remote agreement.
This is a contractor position for a 5-year project in support of a U.S. Federal Agency.
Duties:
As a Classification specialist, you will be responsible for administering effective position classification principles to ensure that positions conform to regulations, standards, policies, approved organizational plans and budgetary limitations.
Assess and advise management on the impact of proposed reorganizations and recommend alternative position management structures.Serve as a technical authority for classification, position management and organizational management for an agency.Coordinate and carrying out special position classification studies that assures full compliance with OPM regulatory requirements.Ensure new classification standards and supplemental guidance issued by OPM are appropriately applied.Apply thorough and comprehensive understanding of classification principles and concepts to interpret and adapt OPM classification standards and guides to secure sound classification decisions.Provide tactful advice to managers on highly difficult and controversial Classification issues.Conduct position classification and position management reviews of positions and organizational structures.Ensure all regulatory requirements and operations workflows of an agency's classification program.Ensure classification standards and supplemental guidance used to determine title, series and grade are appropriately applied.Review decisions from classification OPM appeals and digest to determine the extent to which the decision affects classification within the agency.Explain recommendations and determinations orally and in advisories or evaluation statements to defuse, resolve situations or disputes over decisions.Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in either federal or non-federal service performing all of the following duties or work assignments:
Coordinating and carrying out special position classification studies that assures full compliance with OPM regulatory requirements.Providing advisory services regarding position classification and position management.Reviewing decisions from the classification appeal process and determining the extent to which the decision affects classification within an agency.Researching, analyzing, and evaluating position classification and position management laws, regulations, directives, and policies and recommending changes that would improve operations and processes.
