Merchandise Planning Analyst

The Merchandise Planning Analyst plays a crucial role in retail and supply chain operations, focusing on optimizing product assortment and inventory levels to meet business objectives. They are responsible for analyzing sales trends, customer demand, and inventory data to inform purchasing decisions and ensure product availability. Key duties include forecasting sales and inventory requirements and collaborating with buyers and suppliers to execute merchandising strategies. Requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and an understanding of retail fundamentals.

Responsibilities:Adjust plans as necessary to react to trends and sales.Analyze historical data and current trends on a weekly basis to identify opportunities and risks by vendor, styles, and classifications. Present analysis and action plans.Recap monthly and quarterly performance by class against plan to support with action steps.Maintain SKU-level forecasts and coordinate product purchase needs with the Replenishment & Allocation Analyst.Identify opportunities for process improvement.Partner with the Director of Planning and Merchants to provide ongoing strategic direction.Providing guidance about product selling patterns, the timing of future purchases and potential purchasing efficiencies.Proven ability to plan, organize, multi-task, set priorities effectively and efficiently to proactively respond to changing demands, from multiple sources.Must demonstrate an ability to think strategically, plan and organize effectively.Ability to adapt quickly and react to business needs and change.Detail oriented, excellent time management with strong sense of urgency.Qualifications:

International container experience required.Experience in retail systems related to inventory control and merchandise planning.Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau etc.).Education in business, finance, or a related field is preferred.Founded in 1991, Rooms To Go is one of the largest and fastest growing furniture retailers in the US with over 250 stores in ten southern states, eight distribution centers and an e-commerce business.
