Modern Animal is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our growing team!
We are looking for a strong senior designer who is passionate about creating an incredible customer experience, collaborating/building a world class design team, and translating customer insights to design. Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you will join a team of experts in high-growth startups and veterinary medicine, building a modern, technology-enabled veterinary company.
We work in a fast-paced environment and cross-functional groups to design, build, and roll out products that deliver the company's vision and strategy. We are looking for someone passionate about pets and the people who love them, and someone who is excited about rolling up their sleeves to bring our mission to life as we grow!
This role is based in Los Angeles with a hybrid culture (Minimum requirement to be in office once per week on our tech team day). It is required for the candidate to visit our clinics on a regular basis to shadow the customers (Care team and members).
What you'll be working on:
Leads design for multiple project tracks in our core product suite which includes but not limited to our consumer-facing mobile app, our proprietary internal EHR (Electronic Health Record) platform used by veterinary professionals to record their visit, and our website.Collaborates with other senior designers on the project tracks they lead to create continuity across product offerings.Gains deep understanding and unique insights for the veterinary professional experience and member experience, and uses the insights to identify product opportunities.Ability to produce designs across multiple fidelities for the right audiences to communicate their ideas from napkin sketch to finalized high fidelity designs.Helps to continue to build and maintain the components library as well as keep the integrity of the design system that reflects our brand style guidelines, system architecture requirements, and data architecture layers.Enables our design system to scale with-in the guidelines of our system architecture and brand guidelines through simplification and reduction of components.Works closely with product management and engineering to continuously refine the designs and is a part of the product development process.Runs user research tracks (Focus groups, mazes, etc.) as needed to help drive product choices and validation.Conducts audits of similar products to bring insights to concepting phase of design.Works effectively with cross-functional partners (Operations, growth, medicine, marketing, and in-clinic care teams) to drive decision-making and product choices. Although separate teams, it is required to develop XFN working relationships to solve problems given the layered nature of our business.Works effectively with PMs to help refine problem statements, prioritize work, and conduct discovery.Why you'd be a great fit:
5+ years of experience in a product designer roleTrack record of independently leading product tracks that have made company-level impact.Mastery of figmaUX skills, visual design, and discovery skills are a must.Sweating the details but seeing the whole picture- being able to identify 2nd and 3rd order impacts of product choices as well engage in 1st principled thinking when attacking a problem.Ability to navigate through ambiguity and ask for help when neededCurious and embracing that good ideas come from anywhere and are able to adapt your ideas to new information.Experience building, scaling, and simplifying our cross-platform design system to meet system arch./data layer constraints as well as brand guidelines.Effective cross-functional communicator by tailoring your language toward different audiences to get feedback and generate results.Experience working with technology with a heavy operation component is a strong plus.What you can expect from us:

The pay range for this position is $89,000 - $155,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
