As a Category Manager I, you'll manage all business-related activities related to specified expense and asset categories and the associated maintenance expenses. NOTE: category is defined as goods, services, or both.

We are looking for:- 4+ years of experience in category management, procurement, or related area

What is the work?Management:- Serves as subject matter expert for assigned expense and capital categories- Manages a set of specific expense and capital categories- Manages new projects as assigned- Develops and reviews Requests for Proposals (RFPs)- Handles cost negotiation with vendors / service providers- Independently learns / manages all procurement functions related to assigned categories- Works with others to create new ideas to help differentiate H-E-B from competition- Assists in identifying meaningful opportunities in the assigned line of business and categories- Seeks and pursues innovative ways to improve productivity for partners and enhance customer experience- Communicates and works collaboratively with all affiliated Departments

Analytics:- Applies intermediate analytics skills and multiple category knowledge- Provides input to the expense budgets and capital elements for assigned categories- Determines financial impact of decisions for development of new and existing product lines for assigned categories- Drives financial results by constantly assessing category performance to lower costs while maintaining H-E-B standard- Responds to / resolves financial reporting and issues related to category billing- Escalates unresolved financial issues to higher level

What is your background?- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience- 4+ years of experience in category management, procurement, or related area- 7+ years of experience in financial analysis

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Category Manager I?- Working knowledge of budgeting and expense tracking / controls and return on investment (ROI)- Proficiency in MS Office, procurement tools- Strong analytical and project management skills- Strong verbal/ written communication and presentation skills- Strong organization and time-management skills- Negotiating and influencing skills- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects / tasks; attention to detail- Ability to work complex issues with senior management

Can you...- Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays- Work extended hours; sit for extended periods- Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more
