Interim Secondary School Principal Position
Lotus School for Excellence is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to step into the role of Interim Secondary School Principal. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support our secondary school students, staff, and programs on a temporary basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the secondary schoolProvide leadership and support to teachers and staffEnsure a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environmentImplement school policies and promote academic excellenceCollaborate with the school leadership team and communityQualifications:
Minimum Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Principal or Principal in a secondary school setting.STEM Focus: Previous experience working in a STEM-focused school or leading STEM-based educational programs is essential.Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in improving student achievement, driving academic success, and implementing effective improvement plans.Leadership in Diverse Settings: Experience working in diverse, high-needs school settings, with a commitment to equity and inclusivity.Educational Background: Master's degree in Educational Leadership or a related field is required; a Doctorate is preferred.Principal Certification: Principal certification requiredImmediate Availability: Candidates must be available to start immediately upon offer.Strategic Vision: Strong ability to articulate and implement a clear vision for academic and organizational success.Compliance and Policy Management: Deep understanding of educational policies, compliance with district and state regulations, and experience managing these requirements.Strong References: Applicants must provide strong references and leadership evaluations demonstrating their impact and effectiveness in previous leadership roles.Cultural Fit: Ability to maintain and enhance the collaborative, inclusive culture at Lotus School for Excellence is critical.Preferred Qualifications:
Counseling Experience: Prior experience in school counseling is preferred to provide a holistic approach to student support and well-being.Strong Curriculum and Instruction Knowledge: Expertise in curriculum development, instructional strategies, and educational best practices for grades 6-12. Experience in driving student achievement and school improvement.Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with teachers, students, parents, and stakeholders. Proven track record of fostering a positive school culture and working with diverse communities.Crisis Management and Decision-Making Abilities: Experience in handling school-wide crises, such as student safety or disciplinary issues, and making timely, effective decisions under pressure.Experience with School Improvement Initiatives: Familiarity with implementing school improvement plans, including data-driven approaches to addressing achievement gaps, increasing graduation rates, and enhancing student outcomes.Knowledge of State and Federal Education Policies: Understanding of education laws, regulations, and policies, especially those related to middle and high school education, accountability measures, and student services (e.g., special education, college and career readiness).Adaptability and Short-Term Vision Execution: Ability to quickly adapt to a new environment and establish a clear vision for continuity during the interim period. The interim principal should be able to maintain stability and support the school through transitions.Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, from teacher evaluations to student discipline, while maintaining focus on school-wide goals.
