Our client, a growing creative agency has an immediate need for a Senior Strategic Planner. This is a freelance role (40 hours a week) with potential to go fulltime for the right candidate.
Must be located within commutable distance to LA, NYC, Chicago or Dallas. This role is hybrid onsite once a week.
The Sr. Planner is responsible for helping create, concept and complete strategies, programs and campaigns using consumer insights, trends, best practices, technologies, and innovations. This position supports and, in several cases, leads department-wide strategic initiatives through intelligence gathering, research design- analysis, and strategic support materials (i.e. research findings videos, briefing materials, etc.). This position is client facing and requires strong presentation skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills, and a passion for constant learning.
STRATEGIC PLANNING DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategic oversight for all client campaigns and projects, providing the creative team with direction to ensure marketing and creative work is on-strategy and on-brand.• Develop strategies for selling ideas and provide rationale from research to support strategy.• Write inspiring creative briefs and brief in-house teams or partner with agencies to develop the content/experience needed to bring channels to life.• Research, analyze, and present cultural and social trends that affect the marketplace both locally and globally for client brands.• Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions to develop brand strategies that drive rich creative thinking.• Utilize research and tools to help populate customer profiles and personas; identify unmet needs, hypothesize key customer problems and solutions.• Collaborate effectively and support knowledge sharing with colleagues from various disciplines, including strategy, creative, and account management.• Create clear, compelling content for client presentations, POVs, and other deliverables.• Maintain accurate timesheets that are completed by required deadlines.• Ability to manage workload and accomplish tasks.• Preserve and foster WI's culture and maintain a positive and forward-thinking attitude.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• Story-telling ability and/or aptitude to ask good questions, explain things clearly and succinctly, and boil down relevant insights.• Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and presentation skills.• Strong attention to detail, strong grammar skills, and business writing skills.• Comfortable and professional interacting with and presenting to clients.• Natural manager, skilled at juggling multiple tasks, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.• Self-starter who goes above and beyond on tasks, seeking out opportunities and challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS
• BA or BS degree in Business, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, the Arts, or a related field.• 4+ years of experience in advertising or marketing, with a preferred focus on strategic planning.• Qualitative research experience (focus groups, in-depth interviews, ethnographic research, or any type of interviewing skills).• Dynamic problem-solving skills and the ability to influence internal teams.• Ability to work with bi-coastal teams.• Proficiency in MS Office products.
