Job Description:
Likewize is searching for a Regional Controller, US and Canada to join our team at our global Headquarters in Southlake, TX.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the regional and subsidiary accounting processes for the company's device protection and buy back and trade in businesses within multiple entities in the United States and Canada. You will report directly to the CAO and will work closely with the region's finance and operational teams. As the Regional Controller, you are responsible for ensuring the integrity of the financial results of the region through your specialized accounting knowledge, developing strong cross functional relationships and maintaining effective internal controls. You will work with the company's external and internal auditors to complete the annual group audit, individual sub consolidation audit and SOC audits.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Oversee the region subsidiaries month end close ensure a timely and quality close
Responsible for routine accounting matters such as revenue recognition, cost accounting, expenses and inventory valuation among others
Supervise, develop, and review the work of a team of accountants and clerks both locally and in the company's shared service center with a "hands-on" approach as the central resource to answer questions and provide guidance
Timely review, identify, and address accounting issues with financial impact and ensure they are properly reflected in the financial statements reported to corporate
Accountable for process improvements to continue reducing the closing and reporting cycle times and maintain an effective control environment
Ensure significant and material accounting matters are properly addressed at subsidiary and regional level including writing and/or reviewing technical memos
Oversee and support inventory accounting processes and reconciliations
Support AR and Inventory teams to ensure that the respective balance sheet line amounts and their related allowance accounts are properly and adequately stated
Ensure proper and timely billing for device protection programs
Prepare and review reinsurance company reporting for external parties
Work with the reinsurance company board and reviewers for accuracy in reporting and understanding of transactions
Coordination with the company's corporate tax team on all tax accounting and compliance for the region
Evaluate internal controls surrounding all key accounting processes/systems to ensure that global controls have been implemented properly and are effective
Support SOX/IA team on remediation of deficiencies within region
Support the implementation of best practices at subsidiary level
Review trial balance, P&L and balance sheets on a monthly basis
Maintain continuous, open communications with corporate team and other regions
Work with the legal team and operations to ensure they understand and comply with revenue recognition policy under US GAAP
Support the corporate finance team in the preparation of monthly and quarterly variance analysis to ensure that the answers are complete, concise, and adequate
Provide monthly and quarterly financial reporting disclosure support to the corporate financial reporting team
Prepare supporting workpapers for standalone sub consolidated financial statements for device protection business
Work closely with the corporate accounting team regarding standardization and establishment of policies and procedures
Train and provide support for the implementation of standard policies and procedures to meet accounting requirements
Collaborate with global compliance team to support the successful completion of the annual SOC audit for device protection business
Education, skills and/or experience:
Month end close regional or operational accounting experience
Experience with a large (greater than $300MM annual revenues) company
5+ years of management experience
8+ years of accounting experience in fast paced environment
Process improvement and automation experience and skills
Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and critical thinking skills
Strong understanding of operational accounting (not just corporate accounting)
Ability to absorb new concepts and apply in work assignments
Ability to be agile - shift priorities and manage workload to meet assigned deadlines
Insurance, Service and/or distribution industry experience
Extensive knowledge of US GAAP
Ability to break down problems and collaborate with others to resolve
Confidently and constructively expresses beliefs and opinions
Communicate effectively with all levels of people throughout organization
Highly collaborative: not shy about working directly with other functions in the company - particularly IT, Technology Development, Business Development, Customer support, Sales, Warehouse, etc.
Highly organized and follow through on outstanding initiatives
Masters and/or CPA with Big 4 audit experience (preferred)
Foreign Currency revaluation and translation experience, global company experience (preferred)
Financial system and consolidation experience (Netsuite and/or Hyperion a plus)
