Major Duties & Responsibilities

The function consists of broad responsibilities in general accounting and capital planning, shareholder transactions to ensure alignment with the Company's strategic goals; tax planning and reporting; credit loss modeling and reporting, and management of profitability models to provide insight that will enhance financial performance. In addition to regular duties, this position collaborates closely with senior management on special projects that influence the bank's strategic direction.

Analyzes the Company's capital levels in accordance with regulatory standards and provides quarterly distribution recommendations to Executive Management and the Board of Directors.Works with legal counsel to ensure shareholder transactions are conducted in accordance with the WestStar Bank Holding Company Inc's Shareholders' Agreement and IRS rules for S Corporations.Tracks and accounts for shareholder transactions for WestStar Bank Holding Company, Inc. and oversees the payment of quarterly shareholder distributions.Assists the CFO with the management of the WestStar Bank Holding Company, Inc. Dividend Reinvestment Plan, including assistance with the update of the annual offering circular provided to eligible shareholders.Responsible for managing WestStar Bank's customer and product profitability model which includes annual updates to underlying assumptions and monthly validation of data.Assists with the preparation of the Federal and State income/franchise tax returns and other information tax returns.Conduct research, as necessary, to determine compliance with tax laws.Ensure the allowance for credit losses is calculated in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.Maintain and update on a quarterly basis, or more often if needed, the current expected credit loss (CECL) calculation to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the allowance for credit losses and associated provision.Work closely with Credit Administration Department on updating and validating model assumptions used in the CECL model.Assists with the preparation of budget for the Bank and its subsidiaries and divisions.Prepares and or assists in preparation of regulatory reports (i.e. Call Report, FR Y-6, FR Y-8, etc.).Assists with preparation of schedules as required during financial audits and bank examinations (by Federal Reserve Bank and Texas Department of Banking).Serves as subject matter expert for less experienced team members and resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver results.Leads special projects and coordinates with key stakeholders to ensure timely completion.Performs other duties as assigned.Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial position.CPA certification is preferred, but not required.Previous banking experience preferred, understanding of regulatory environment helpful.Strong computer skills a must to include but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, and ability to learn bank specific software.Excellent written and verbal skills; including through knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing, and proofreading skills.Proven ability to research, organize, and analyze technical information with particular attention to accuracy and detail.Ability to make decisions, solve problems, and utilize resources to accomplish goals and objectives of the department.Ability to multi-task and organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines is critical.Ability to work independently, as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.Must be able to maintain confidentiality in personnel and other sensitive bank matters.Equipment Used
