SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility is the overall management, direction, and coordination of plant operations and maintenance functions. The Manufacturing Manager reports to the Site Operations Manager. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing all related operational functions for the department. These responsibilities included, but are not limited to direction and performance of the department hourly production workforce, conformance to all regulatory compliance, enforcement of safety, health, environmental, policies & procedures; work rules; cost control; operating procedures; budget preparation; asset utilization & optimization; quality and manufacturing efficiency

Most frequent interactions and contacts within the organization include Operations Manager, Director of Operations, Production Engineer, Maintenance Manager, EH&S Professionals, Production Employees and Union Representatives. Other intermittent contact interactions may involve Finance and Payroll professionals.

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for achieving operational optimization/utilization within a broad and complex mix of chemistry requirements. Driving and influencing on-going culture change of employees as well as establishing operating procedures and safety policies and regulations.

The position requires technical knowledge and accumulated experience managing a chemical manufacturing plant and related chemistry knowledge to diagnose operational problems, troubleshoot and achieve operational efficiency and improvement when required. The position also requires the ability to work in a "team environment" and inspire others to do the same. The position also requires the Manufacturing Manager to lead and influence others, communicate effectively (oral and written), coach and develop others, resolve conflict (one-on-one with an employee or when appropriate Union Representation) and the ability to communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical individuals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (Required):

Bachelor's degree Chemical Engineering preferred and/or Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry. (Practical managerial/leadership experience responsibility for a Chemical Plant is a consideration equivalency).7-10 years of chemical manufacturing industry experience with a strong working knowledge of all elements of manufacturing systems (preferably in a chemical facility).Experience with both batch and continuous operations are desirable.Experience working at a PSM site.Knowledge of State/Federal EPA and OSHA compliance requirements.PSM / PHA knowledge a plus.Proven experience and effectiveness managing union hourly work force a plus.Experience working in a diverse team environment including interactions with technical staff, administrative staff, business team leaders and contract personnel.Effectively communicate both orally and in writing, present complex topics in a concise manner.Broad understanding of business issues, metrics, organizational linkages, and customer value.Strong interpersonal skills.6 Sigma training a plus.Basic understanding of Control Systems and the ability to perform simple "troubleshooting" assessments.Some travel required.Essential physical requirements include ability to climb stairs; lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. May also be required to climb ladders and examine work that may be conducted in high elevations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Essential physical requirements include the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, and work and/or be exposed to all types of seasonal weather conditions in an outdoor environment.
