Job SummaryThe position's primary responsibilities will be to work with managers at OPD to support its main functions, including providing tools and resources for finding funding opportunities, managing limited submission funding opportunities for the campus, and assisting PIs and teams with developing large-scale, multidisciplinary proposals to external sponsors. Duties & ResponsibilitiesLimited Submissions & Funding Data Mining
Conduct grant searches and manage the creation and distribution of newsletters highlighting funding opportunitiesSupport the development and management of tools and templates that enhance the efficiency of limited submissions and proposal development activitiesAssist the Limited Submissions Manager with managing internal competitions and maintaining and updating grant-related internal data systemsAssist the budget development manager with updating budgets and budget templates relevant to large-scale proposals
Proposal Development
Assist staff at OPD with preparing and submitting grant proposals to federal and foundation sponsors, including gathering and organizing data for proposalsReview and proofread proposal drafts (both technical and non-technical sections) for accuracy and completenessOrganize proposal development teams, establish project checklists and timelines, and track progress toward goals
Administrative Duties
Manage email and other communications with PIs and teams by monitoring OPD related email accounts, creating and maintaining email templates, and maintaining an email calendar to ensure that routine emails are sent on timeManage events organized by OPD such as funding opportunity search training sessions, sponsor information sessions, and Research Development Day
Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree with 1 year of experience working in a closely related fieldPreferred QualificationsPh.D.2 years of related professional experience, with one of those years in a research development-related roleGeneral knowledge of the research landscape at a research universityKnowledge about federal funding for researchExperience with developing or managing activities related to grant proposal developmentProficiency in coordinating projects and ability to manage organizational tasks effectivelyKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal skillsAn aptitude for learning new skills, tools, and processesStrong problem-solving skillsWillingness and ability to work flexibly and on short notice to meet tight deadlinesCommitment to working collaboratively with diverse groups and teamsAbility to work effectively independently as well as part of a teamProficiency in commonly employed software and databases, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after closing date. Salary range is $60,000 to $65,000 per year. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
