We are seeking a detail-oriented
Purchasing Specialist II
to support our procurement activities. This role will involve handling purchasing responsibilities, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with university procurement policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the purchasing process for various goods and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.
Prepare and issue purchase orders, review requisitions, and ensure proper documentation.
Evaluate supplier bids and proposals, conducting comparative analyses to make informed purchasing decisions.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and departments to understand purchasing needs and specifications.
Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors, ensuring favorable conditions for the university.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and related documentation.
Monitor supplier performance, address any discrepancies, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Ensure compliance with university procurement policies, state guidelines, and applicable regulations.
Resolve purchasing issues, disputes, or concerns with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Assist in developing and maintaining the preferred vendor list and updating supplier databases.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a university or educational institution.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and procurement software.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Knowledge of state procurement guidelines and compliance is a plus.
Certification in Purchasing or Procurement (e.g., CPPB, CPPO) is a plus.
