Job Description
The Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise (HNFE) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking a Undergraduate and Dietetics Program Coordinator to proactively contribute to enhancing the student experience through customer service and commitment to the effective administration of academic policies and procedures. The department fosters a collaborative, student-centered work culture that values innovation, inclusivity, and professional growth. As a vital part of this environment, the Undergraduate and Dietetics Program Coordinator provides administrative support to the department and its Undergraduate and Dietetics programs. The role contributes to the department's goal of delivering excellent academic support and service by:• Maintaining the accuracy and organization of academic resources, including timetable, department databases, and the student handbook• Supporting program processes, such as processing advisor assignments, course substitutions, force adds, etc.• Managing student records in compliance with university policies• Preparing reports and accreditation documents• Supporting departmental committees by tracking policies, organizing committeedocumentation, taking minutes, and facilitating communication of key deadlines• Assisting in the planning of meetings and events
Additionally, the candidate will oversee personnel support for all departmental wage positions. This includes managing the search process, coordinating the onboarding and offboarding activities (completion of paperwork, confirming work eligibility, entering Banner transactions, and ensuring access and training to systems), maintaining file retention in accordance with university policies, and directing timely completion of TimeClock Plus.
Required Qualifications• Associates degree in related field and/or equivalent experience providing administrativeand payroll support in an academic or professional office environment• Experience preparing and managing spreadsheets with a high level of accuracy• Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)• Excellent communication and customer service skills with an emphasis on telephone andoffice etiquette• Strong organizational and multitasking skills• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications• Experience with Banner Human Resources/Student, Enterprise Systems (ES) Reports,PageUp, HokieMart, and a variety of reporting systems• Demonstrated knowledge of Virginia Tech policies and procedures• Experience preparing and managing official records.
