Position Profile:
Works closely with the Executive Director to meet the organization's development and public relations goals.
Qualifications:
The possession of a college degree is preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience working in nonprofit Development is required, as well as proficiency in the use of social media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of Director of Development & Community Relations:
Research applicable foundation funding sources, and prepare grant applicationsMonitor grant reporting deadlines and prepare grant reports as requiredEngage with current and prospective donors through direct communication, social media, Milestone website, newsletters, etc.Create and manage fund raising activities including organizing events.Support major gifts program including: community education presentations, researching major gifts prospects and scheduling Milestone toursSupport staff and Board of Directors in their work to obtain private donationsAttend monthly Board of Directors meetings and take minutes of those meetingsServe as staff member on the Board of Director's Development CommitteeIdentify, cultivate, steward and solicit existing and additional donorsProvide administrative support for gift acknowledgment programs, including gift data entry and acknowledgementOversee donor database, reporting and data analysisMaintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor filesDesign and implement donor appreciation and cultivation events and activitiesCreate monthly development, fundraising activity and other database reports, as neededResearch appropriate benchmarks and metrics and report on new donors, donor retention, attrition, donation amounts and other appropriate information needed to assess fund development goal and objective accomplishmentAssign development tasks to staff and BOD as needed.Coordinate production and mailings of fund raising, annual reports, and other donor correspondenceRecruit, coordinate, and oversee volunteers for fund development and fund raising activities.Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive DirectorMaintain agency website and social media platforms
Physical demands and work environment:
Freedom of movement on a regular basis. Operating basic office equipment in a normal office environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. May spend extended periods operating a desktop computer, requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity; physical activity requires walking, bending, standing and lifting.
