The Manager in Training will learn the overall operation of the store, under the direction of the Store Manager and/or Training Manager, and will train to provide leadership and directions of a multimillion-dollar business unit, with focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Manager in Training will train and develop team members, while establishing a strong sales culture with accountability for operational excellence and achievement of financial and regularity standards.Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):People Management Skills:Create a work culture that makes your store an inviting place to workBe a role model who coaches, mentors, and inspires team membersDelegate tasks to team members and set prioritiesCommunicate in a clear and concise manner to team, leading effective huddles/meetings/coaching sessions, keeping team well informed of pertinent informationParticipate in store recruitment and create succession plans for the storeSupport and coach team members to improve performance gaps; conduct ongoing coaching for improvementsComplete and hold team accountable to complete required training within allocated time framesCreate and/or monitor the creation of efficient weekly store schedules for both sales and support functionsCustomer Offering:Deliver exemplary customer serviceUtilize the 5 Non-Negotiables: Greet, Engage, Build, Add-on, and ThankHelp Store Manager resolve customer complaints regarding sales and serviceReview customer surveys and manage appropriatelyEvaluate programs and promotions for effectiveness and offer recommendations to Area ManagerTo set the example of store excellence and ensure a solid awareness of all aspects of store operations, balancing the tasks with all managers in the storeFollow the business needs using the heat map of customer flowSchedule Requirements:A minimum of two Saturdays per month, February through NovemberIn December, every weekend is requiredJanuary, flexible scheduling allowed for time offA minimum of one (1) mid-shift (until 7:00 or 8:00 pm) each weekA minimum of three (3) closing shifts per month (for 1:00 am closing stores, only one (1) closing shift and two (2) shifts until 10:00 pm required)A minimum of one (1) opening shift per weekFinancial:Ensure that goals will be met through appropriate planning and organization of labor, inventory, and finances for short- and long-term successMeet or exceed financial targets through partnership with Area ManagerReview and monitor the Loss Prevention program to protect the Company's inventory and assetsReview financial documentation (invoices, costs, etc.) for accuracyMonitor and make appropriate adjustments to scheduling to achieve labor costDevelop plans with Management, when trends show a deficit to budgetsDay-to-Day Operations:Ensure all merchandising and pricing guidelines are followedEnsure store is clean and presentable and action any maintenance issuesExecute merchandising programs and track resultsManage communication (mail, email, voicemail)Maintain inventory levels, as well as inventory ordering and receivingRespond to customer complaintsOrganize and/or attend OHS and LP meetings and training sessionsActively aim to increase and share industry knowledgeDevelop relationships with store stakeholdersSet daily tasks for the storeReview flyers, upcoming events, and promotions; execute appropriatelyRegulatory Adherence:Ensure that OHS, LP, TAP/Rserving, and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and adhered toParticipate in health inspections, audits, and required corrective actionsMaintain First-Aid, LP, and OHS TrainingMaintain TAP or Rserving, and ensure employees maintain TAP or RservingEnsure AK ABC Board and other government guidelines are metAdhere to all Afognak Native Corporation policies, with a focus on Social ResponsibilityQualifications and Experience:Minimum of 3-years' experience in retail environmentMinimum of 3-years' supervisory and/or management experience (preferred)Education:High School Diploma or equivalentTAP or Rserving CertificationFirst-Aid Certificate is considered an asset but not requiredTraining in wine/beer/spirits (preferred, not required)Physical Requirements:Available to work a varied retail schedule, including evening and weekendsAble to safely lift up to 50 poundsAble to stand for an extended periodComfortable climbing laddersOther Skills and Capabilities:Highly self-motivatedCustomer service drivenEffective leadership of large teamStrong sales backgroundProven track record of successStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Must be able to pass a Background CheckMust have access to reliable transportationStrong understanding of store operating reports, including P&L statementsEqual Opportunity EmployerAfognak Native Corporation and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, partnerships, joint ventures and affiliates to include (1) Alutiiq, LLC; (2) Afognak Commercial Group, LLC; (3) Alutiiq Professional Consulting, LLC; (4) Alutiiq Consulting Company S. de R.L. de C.V; and (5) each of their respective direct and indirect subsidiaries, partnerships, joint ventures and affiliates including Liquor Stores USA North Inc.
