October 2024The PositionThe Membership Director is responsible for growing and maintaining the membership of the organization. As Membership Director, a primary job responsibility is to design and implement the organization’s membership growth and retention strategy that aligns with AAKP’s strategic objectives. The Membership Director is also responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of membership growth strategies as well as the day-to-day management of the organization’s member engagement. The Membership Director will work closely with, and report to, the AAKP Executive Director and Deputy Director. Travel is expected and required.Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leads the association’s overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage membership.Collaborates with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and key Board Members to:

Create a roadmap for sustainable membership growth across all categories of membership the organization offers.Establish short- and long-range plans and goals to achieve organization membership objectives.Outline a data-driven member engagement, retention, and recruitment strategy and implementation plan.Develop strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement, data collection of members, and membership renewal for those membership categories where applicable.

Identify opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance member benefits and services offered by the Association.Develop strategies to measure and strengthen member engagement and data collection of members.Oversite of all membership data, tracking and reporting, including but not limited to:

Accurate membership recordsMembership trend analysis by state/regionRecruitment and retention reportsCurrent, new, and prospective member informationMember experience throughout join and renewal processes

Initiate and manage strategic partnerships with other auxiliary-related associations and groups to help recruitment and retention of new members; including, but not limited to, attendance at conferences to represent the Association.Works with Executive Director to set annual membership goals. Provides monthly insight into membership revenue and tracking toward annual goals.Serves as staff liaison to the Membership Committees; assist the committee chair(s) in the planning of meetings, development of the agenda, and in the execution of all committee activities.Work collaboratively with team members within the guidelines of the organization’s National Strategy.ExpectationsBachelor’s degree requiredA minimum of three years of experience in membership or constituent management position preferred.Demonstrated experience in growing membership/customers and strengthening membership/customer retention.An understanding of the non-profit industry preferred.Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.High level of initiative and desire to meet specific goals and deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be Microsoft proficient, i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.Experience with database management, preferably DonorPerfect.Superior customer service skills to both internal and external audiences.An eagerness to help implement sustainable business practices.Ability to adhere to the highest ethical standards.Demonstrated empathetic disposition and positive attitude.Eagerness to work as part of a team, both as a leader and in a supporting capacity to the Executive Director.Personal qualities that include integrity, commitment to AAKP’s mission, respect for diversity and the ability to inspire and motivate.Ability to travel to represent AAKP as needed, directed by Executive Director.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
