Job Description:
The Plant Manager is accountable for plant production operations in a rapidly growing assembly/manufacturing environment. The position is responsible for developing and accomplishing all plant objectives in the areas of safety, quality, production, people development, and customer service. The Plant Manager looks for ways to improve the metrics of the operation, through visual, hands-on applications along with development of the immediate supervisory staff and lead personnel.
This position reports directly to the SVP of Manufacturing and will provide plant level leadership to all production departments.
Responsibilities:
Plans, directs, and leads plant production with an intense focus on safety and quality while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and internal company policies.
Directs, manages and develops plant staff to ensure efficient and safe operations of the plant. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
Establishes, communicates, implements, and enforces safety programs and procedures; conducts routine safety inspections and meetings; ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment; identifies and implements safety improvements.
Monitors plant operating budget; analyzes labor costs and material usage; develops labor models to forecast needs and balance production; identifies and implements improvements to positively affect profitability.
Recommends purchase of all capital equipment and supplies to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Prepares and/or maintains various reports, records and/or logs (e.g., budget, quality, production, environmental, safety, etc.)
Fosters and maintains a high level of customer service through on-time production, responsiveness to customer needs and ensuring that the quality of the shipped product meets all customer quality requirements.
Communicates with other company resources to coordinate activities, develop new and innovative solutions, and drive waste out of the process.
Employs lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Becomes the company “go-to” resource with respect to all assemblies manufactured in the plant, extremely familiar with the manufacturing plans and process from design to completion.
Supports the Director of Manufacturing in the leadership of production, assists with growth planning.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), business administration, or manufacturing management. Significant (15+ years) industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred skills and experience:
Minimum eight years overall manufacturing experience and five years of experience in a leadership role.
Proven ability to independently manage plant operations.
Track record of building a high-performing team to succeed in a demanding, fast-moving, and growth-oriented atmosphere.
Proven project management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement and change management activities.
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with a proven record of building relationships and collaborating across multiple operations and corporate support functions.
Keen business acumen and attention to detail with a solid record of leading change and delivering superior safety and business results.
Experience with ERP (Epicor) software is a bonus.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
