At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. We are seeking a Senior Category Manager to lead the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar Ops construction projects.
The role will work alongside a team of Construction category managers and will partner closely with Pre-Construction, Design and Construction, World Wide Real-Estate, and World Wide Design to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings/value and improve productivity across the category.
This role will be part of an exciting, fast moving and growing team. The right candidate for this role will be a self-starter with dedication to seeing projects through to the end. You must be able to work independently in a collaborative, creative, ever-changing and ambiguous environment. You will have an eye for detail and determination to standardize processes and turn-over high-quality work. This position involves direct contact with both internal and external stakeholders, and the candidate must have an ability to communicate effectively with business partners at every level, including upper management to inform decision making.
Key job responsibilities
Lead individual GC construction category projects, partnering with the team, owning the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar sites.
Identify, develop and deliver long term sourcing strategies, lead key initiatives with cross-functional teams; drive the decision-making process of the category roadmap with senior leadership.
Build relationships and alignment with internal and external stakeholders to effectively plan and deliver site launches to meet site construction programs, particularly for Prime week and Peak season.
Own the individual targets and goals identified across the NA GC construction category scope as well as identifying and delivering incremental process and system improvements
Drive Supplier sourcing, award, contracting and ongoing support until project delivery, while maintaining commercial relationships with suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving optimal cost and performance;
Lead supplier performance management; including improving sustainability & social responsibility;
Help develop Key Performance Indicators and set goals for the team
Audit the progress of the team to ensure we are meeting customer expectations
Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed
Candidate must be able to travel, up to 10%

You will deliver market leading low-cost, innovative and sustainable construction equipment/services to help our Operations teams succeed and delight Amazon.com customers with speed, selection and convenience
You will collaborate to seek inputs and manage outputs from our external suppliers as well as internal partners across Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Workplace Health & Safety and Finance
You may have to adapt and sometimes take different roles from strategy development to project management to rapidly meet customer needs
You will focus on deep diving categories to unlock value and help deploy emerging technologies at scale for Operations
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Experience defining and executing program requirements
Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing and category management in indirect categories such as professional services, support or maintenance spend, supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
5+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
PMP
5+ years of construction cost management experience
Experience being responsible/leading large and complex negotiations
5+ years of construction management or working with general contractors and managing supplier diversity initiatives experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
