We are seeking a Category Manager with procurement experience to strategically source products and services within our Global Procurement Operations, CapEx Equipment Category Team. The person in this role will interact with our most important suppliers to satisfy business requirements and will partner with multiple teams in Amazon to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, improve productivity and value across the category.
Key job responsibilities
- Establish and execute category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional teams, negotiate with suppliers and deliver the best value;
- Drive appropriate relationships with suppliers, with the objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership;
- meet the business and procurement goals fostering a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use;
- Identify, monitor and optimize opportunities to increase value and mitigate risks for our Customers;
- Lead end-to-end Procurement process for large investment projects globally;
- Act as a category expert and focal point within the Procurement team;
- anticipate trends and risks, identify and exploit opportunities to continuously improve performance;
- Achieve y-o-y cost savings and meet/exceed KPI set for category sourcing activities;
- Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions;
- Help to develop long-term department strategies and significantly influence the cross-company project development and delivery of enhanced processes and standards
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Earn the trust of key stakeholders to drive alignment with the business
- Create and execute the category strategy in conjunction with internal customers to ensure there is a comprehensive, unified approach for the category
- Achieve yearly cost saving or value targets appropriate to the category aligned with annual budget processes
- Define and report on key metrics that measure effectiveness of supply and cost savings
- Champion standards and process improvements
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Travel up to 25%
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- 2+ years of supply chain experience
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
