US Purchasing Manager Job Description:
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading the purchasing team and overseeing all procurement activities within the USA.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and overseeing the work of all buyers, on-site and off-site.
- Training and developing buyers in all US locations.
- Work with suppliers to ensure the optimum combination of price, quality, and lead time is obtained for all items/services purchases. This includes negotiation of pricing, delivery, and payment terms, as well as cancellation/return/warranty policies.
- Establish strategic partnership agreements for key suppliers.
- Support all purchasing activities such as procurement, component issues, and material returns.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure required performance (on-time delivery, quality, competitive pricing) is achieved and continuously improved. Establish and maintain supplier scorecards to maintain/improve supplier performance.
- Provide visibility on components on order status/receipt to all internal stakeholders (i.e. Project Management).
- Coordinate with Engineering and Mech./Elec. Design functions to identify opportunities for product training (Lunch & Learns) or similar technical information sessions to enhance understanding of vendor product lines, new applications, cost savings, etc.
- Work in collaboration with other department employees and the Global Director of Supply Chain to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement that increase the efficiency of operations, more effectively utilize resources, and reduce costs.
- Other work as assigned to support projects and/or customer expectations.
- Follow all safety rules and policies.
- Ability to travel as required. (domestic and international).
- Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years in a purchasing or procurement-related role.
- 2 years in a Managerial or Supervisory role with direct reports.
- Experience working in an ERP/MRP/APS environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of company structure.
- Self-starter, organized, highly adaptive, flexible, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
