Job Description SUMMARY: Responsible for providing professional administration of all benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, carrier enrollment, qualifying events, reviewing reports from plan providers to verify accuracy; resolves issues/discrepancies; communicates benefit information to HR staff and employees. Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of Human Resource Information System records, including set up of open enrollment and qualifying events and compiles reports from database as required; provides vendors with accurate eligibility information. Works with broker and vendors to address issues and brings them to a resolution. Manages Company wellness program including scheduling of events, coordinating with vendors, and internal communications. Responsible for company benefit communication strategy. Maintains a standard new-hire orientation benefit process for all corporate entities. Manages quality checks of benefits-related data. Manages leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork with the vendor. Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities. Manages worker's compensation administration by ensuring proper submittal of worker's compensation claims for organization; works with HR staff, safety officers, worker's compensation carrier and employee to bring claims to resolution. Assists with the return to work process. Manages the open enrollment process. Assists with compensation management and administration. Maintains currency of employment regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, applicable laws, and employment legislation. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in human resources administration, or a closely related field; AND five (5) years of professional benefits administration experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Required Knowledge and Skills Required Knowledge: Principles, practices, and techniques of human resources and employee benefits administration. Comprehensive principles, practices, and techniques of benefits administration and customer service. Understanding of the development and implementation of benefit programs, policies and procedures. Principles and practices of developing teams, motivating employees and managing in a team environment. Applicable state and federal statutes, rules, codes, and regulations governing payroll and benefits. Principles and practices of auditing and testing data and processes for accuracy. Principles of record keeping and records management. Computer applications and systems related to the work. Techniques for working with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, occasionally where relations may be confrontational or strained. Principles and techniques of providing effective oral presentations. Principles and practices of program planning, development, and evaluation. Correct business English, including spellin , grammar, and punctuation. Required Skills: Training others in policies and procedures related to the work. Performing professional-level human resources duties in a variety of assigned areas. Interpreting, applying and explaining applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Applying more standard business and project management methodologies with a focus on implementing plans to achieve goals. Developing effective work teams and motivating individuals to meet goals and objectives and provide customer services in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Overseeing and administering benefit functions. Maintaining accurate records and files. Performing plan audits and reviews. Carrying assigned analytical projects through, from data collection to report generation. Providing consulting services to supervisors and managers. Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials. Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines. Using tact, discretion, and prudence in working with those contacted in the course of the work. Performing effective oral presentations to large and small groups. Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.
