Description
The Manager of Community Outreach and Training will partner with local health centers and community agencies specifically to deliver training to health care staff to improve their knowledge and skills for working with domestic violence survivors (particularly Black and African American survivors). The Manager will partner with the District Attorney’s office to engage survivors and develop new strategies to support Black and African American victims most at risk for homicide.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and deliver training to healthcare staff that improve the health centers knowledge and skills for working with domestic violence. survivors (particularly Black and African American survivors)
Supervise the Coordinator of Community Outreach as well as other Supervisors in the Domestic Violence Services team as requested.
Work collaboratively with the District Attorney’s Office as well as other community organizations to engage with the Domestic Violence High Teams (DVHRTs) – multi-disciplinary, cross-agency teams that work to protect high risk survivors.
Establish and maintain relationships with medical organizations, schools, community agencies and faith-based organizations for collaboration.
Enter and maintain data outcomes for various funders.
Maintain principles of confidentiality.
Provide consultation to multi-disciplinary team as needed for the High-Risk Response Team.
Participate in local meetings as needed.
Collect and maintain required monthly statistics.
Attend agency meetings and in-service trainings, as required.
Conduct trainings, meetings, and community education presentations.
Develop and maintain community resource contacts.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of domestic violence and/or family violence and related issues such as substance abuse and mental health, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, community development, and education.
Experience in the field of domestic violence and in providing training on domestic violence and racial equity.
Demonstrated capacity to build and foster community collaborations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cooperatively with other professionals and team members.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
Empathetic, non-judgmental, and active listening skills.
Knowledge of the medical system.
Ability to assess and intervene in crisis situations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of community resources.
Excellent computer skills required.
Public speaking skills with large groups of all ages.
