Who will you be working with?
As a member of the Field Services Americas team, you will be responsible for helping our customer (CPKC) maintain their fleet of GE/Wabtec locomotives by providing exceptional materials management and logistics support. You will be part of a team made up of Wabtec materials experts, all working to ensure our customer’s fleet is running at optimal levels.
How will you make a difference?
As Senior Material Manager and member of the Wabtec Field Service Team (CPKC) and reporting to the Senior Material Leader, you will play a critical role in supporting our materials management process and teams across the different sites in the CPKC network, focusing on ensuring materials are always available for locomotive repairs and maintenance. In this position, you will coordinate and monitor the material manager team to meet and exceed business goals.

What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University (or High School Diploma/GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in a materials management or operations position).
Experience in the Railroad Industry is desired.
Six Sigma training or equivalent Quality Training.
Strong computer skills.
Strong analytical and influencing skills.
Strong oral and written skills for effective communication at different levels inside the company and to external customers.
Strong team leadership, team building, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects & multitasking simultaneously.
Proven project management skills with the ability to work across functional boundaries and all levels of management
High understanding of Safety awareness and a strong Safety Culture.
Previous experience safely operating forklifts and other shop equipment
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing is desired.
Can demonstrate working execution of master scheduling, inventory management, and ability to lead other employees in support of initiatives.
Must know traffic codes and regulations.
Must have the ability to work in warehouse/heavy shop environment if needed.
Willingness to work on weekends if needed.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Experienced in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Power BI and Teams.
Experience in Oracle/SAP or other ERP systems.
Understanding of hazardous material
Ability to obtain Wabtec’s Level 1 Materials Certification in prescribed time from hire date.
Ability to effectively communicate with production, engineering, customer service, sales, and external customers
The ability to maintain reliable and predictable attendance
Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
What will your typical day look like?
Meet EHS expectations, wear right PPE (hardhat, steel toe boots, ear plugs, eye protection).
Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in all dealings with internal team, customers and outside suppliers
Lead a diverse and remote team of materials managers to meet/exceed business plans.
Ownership for material Shortages, root cause identification and right action plan for process improvement. Prioritize effective communication to the customer and upper management.
Lead efforts to update and streamline standard work practices.
Assisting in the shop footprints and supporting the GSW recertifications and other initiatives that lead to Operational Excellence. Implementing Lean principles.
Support all aspects of warehousing and material management including fulfillment, transactional quality, inventory accuracy, productivity, and logistics.
Process improvement as needed and drive for materials to improve inventory efficiency and service level. Systems support, leveraging technology and innovations is expected.
Tracking and monitoring Safety metrics to achieve high EHS culture.
KPI’s-metrics ownership; manage, monitor and compiling reports. (WMAT, In-transit, Due from, Inventory, Turns, Cycle count, etc.)
Support and track the logistic/transportation and other landed cost.
Support warranty/claim process as needed.
Monitoring materials levels and stocks to meet customer expectations.
Assist Material Leader for schedules when needed.
Manage cross training for Material’s team.
Ensure the onboarding of new employees and support training.

Working overnight shifts and multiple days in a row, as required
Ability and willingness to lift approximately 35 lbs. regularly.
