Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We're doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Staff Firmware Engineer

You will work on a team of electrical and embedded software engineers to develop new products. You will be responsible for code development starting from scratch for multiple new products. While this is a new team working on new products, we anticipate the products will use ARM M4 and higher MCUs. Development will likely be on bare metal, RTOS, and/or embedded Linux systems. You will be expected to propose and deliver project results given general directions. You will be working in a startup culture.

If necessary, the job level will be adjusted to suit the applicant's experience and responsibilities.

Responsibilities will include:Deploy embedded software in multiple medium-to-high volume industrial applications.Work in applications with wired and wireless communications.Work in automotive applications is a bonus, especially with CAN communications.Embedded software field upgrade and downgrade.Meeting safety or other compliance standards.Desired Qualifications:

MS or PhD in electrical engineering or computer science.Laboratory proficiency with circuits up to 1 GHz digital, high voltage and current. (up to thousands of amps), and test automation.Industry standard repository and issue tracking tools.Common embedded software languages.Common embedded software operating systems, such as Linux and FreeRTOS.Excellent documentation practice.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
