About a thousand years later (but still in the 4th millennium BC), the first accountants came on the scene, creating an early form of bookkeeping using clay tokens.
While some things stand the test of time, at Mercury, we're embarking on an ambitious journey to add innovative account software alongside our beloved banking* products, to simplify finances for founders and accountants alike. And we're looking for a Head of Marketing, Accounting, to lead the marketing efforts.
As the Head of Marketing- Accounting, you will create the strategy for scaling our accountant partner program and launching our accounting products. Both initiatives are zero-to-one projects, where you'll need to experiment, iterate, and adapt quickly. You'll work with our stellar marketing team-from PR to growth marketing-and partner closely with product and partnerships teams. This is a great opportunity to help Mercury grow our footprint in the accounting world and generate new revenue from transformative financial products.

Banking services provided by Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.Here are some of the things that you'll do:Set the marketing strategy for the accountant partner program (with the goal of building a scaled acquisition channel) and the accounting products; both 0 -> 1 type projectsDream up campaigns on accounting or for accountants, and work across marketing (PR, events, social, growth marketing) and the company (product, partnerships) to execute, iterating as you learnThink creatively and make a business case for further investment - community, referral programs, content... lots of room to be creative and drive impactBe accountable (along with partnerships and product) for Mercury growth from accountant partners and revenue from accounting productsBe a critical voice of marketing leadership; understanding how to hit targets while staying true to the brand and putting the customer firstMake strong, principled decisions and influence a cross-functional group to executeThere are lots of paths that could lead you to be successful in a role like this; we think the strongest candidates will have some of this experience:10+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus in partner marketing or product marketingSaaS experience: You've worked at a B2B startup, preferably a SaaS company; experience marketing to accountants is a big plusStrategy and details: Be able to operate at all levels of depth; setting marketing strategy and quarterly targets, while also enjoying reviewing the user journey and drafting copyResults driven: You can set the right targets and are relentless at hitting them, using data and customer insights to continually refine the roadmapExperimentation mindset: You understand the importance of testing and scaling what works, and can prioritize tests and find ways to get them out quickly; you are excited to build something from the ground upThe total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.
Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.
Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:
US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $260,300 - $306,200US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $234,300 - $275,600Canadian employees (any location): CAD $236,900 - $278,600
