Organizational Context and Job Purpose

Organizational Context:

The GAS/SPEC Technology Group has a long history in the global market for treating gas and liquid streams with amines in a wide variety of applications, such as natural gas, refining, ammonia production, hydrogen processing, and others. The business leverages our excellent process know-how and technical expertise to differentiate GAS/SPEC specialty amine from competitors.

Purpose of the job:

The Technical Account Manager is responsible for account management, sales management, business development in the relevant geographical area and delivering technical consulting when needed. The Technical Account Manager understands all aspects of a commercial sale including prospecting, approach, price management, managing channel to market and closing. The Technical Account Manager also understands how to differentiate GAS/SPEC products and services having a solid foundation on product performance, amine process simulation, amine chemistry compatibility and know-how on different amine processes.

Travel can be as high as 50% but varies widely depending on opportunities, the travel often includes international accounts as we follow natural gas, refining and hydrogen projects globally.

Most Important Internal Factors:Consulting with the technical group to draw on their expertise to develop technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.Effectively communicate with Customer Service and credit to ensure new customer setup is completed efficiently.Interact effectively with the Global Business Manager and other account managers, providing and receiving market intelligence.Most Important External Factors:

Customers:

Requires an in-depth technical and commercial knowledge for a direct working relationship with customers, involved with technical and service response of the product offering as well as the commercial management of the account. Expand current accounts and develop new accounts analyzing their alternatives, current technology vs proposed technology to improve customer value. Prioritizes opportunities from direct accounts, or channel to market.Technology:

The GAS/SPEC group is an established technology and service leader for high performance amine treating. We continue to identify needs and develop new technologies to support areas such as renewable fuels and carbon capture.Distribution:

Our product supply is typically through distribution channels that vary from regions and countries. The customer support model must be flexible based on these channels to market.Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Accountability 1:

Account management at all levels of our customer's organization (procurement, plant operations, corporate engineering) delivering monthly forecast and pricing implementation in line with Business Manager guidelines.Accountability 2:

Develop new opportunities with existing customers or new customers, these strategies may look forward 2+ years and include prospecting, participating in market development initiatives. Maintain relationships with non-active customers and work effectively channels to market.Accountability 3:

Develop technical - economical proposals for existing customers or potential customers. Work with the technical service group communicating the project needs including level of service, customer technical alternatives and timing. Reading, understanding, and commenting on simulation reports or running simulation as needed.Accountability 4:

Manage the project cycle from inquiry, engineering, construction, start up. Track projects progress. Implement the proper communication to the business including forecasting the first fill and the required technical services for startup.Accountability 5:

Work with GAS/SPEC distributors implementing pricing, forecasting demand and training in GAS/SPEC product offering.Accountability 6:

Build GAS/SPEC brand loyalty by referencing successful accounts operations. Developing proper communication tools for internal and external audiences.Accountability 7:

Prioritize potential accounts based on expected returns and ensure priorities are communicated and aligned with the global strategy.Accountability 8:

Collaborate on projects, products, service as needed by the group.Accountability 9:

Participate in industry papers, panel, or presentations. Enhancing technical savvy and promoting GAS/SPEC Technology.Skills & Knowledge Required

Level of education & experience in general:

Required:Bachelor's Degree or higher in engineering, preferred Chemical Engineering.Minimum 5 years industry experience in gas processing, chemical industry, or refining preferred.2 or more years' experience in a customer facing position.Comfortable presenting information formally & informally in both small and large group settings.Fluency in French or Spanish is a plusTechnical skills:

Successful negotiation & influencing skills, strong analytic skills, and attention to detail.Proficient in chemical reaction, and chemical unit operations (distillation, flash separation, compression, heat exchange)Knowledge in amine process simulation preferredConfident use of (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint.Can manage potential and existing customers through relationship building and negotiation skills.Behavioral skills:
