The Tanglewood Public Safety & Security Manager (PSSM), a year-round position reporting to the Director of Tanglewood Facilities with full-time seasonal and part-time post-season duties, is responsible for managing public safety and security operations at Tanglewood throughout the year and supporting crowd management, access control, emergency response and event operations during the festival season in coordination with others. Working collaboratively across all departments and following a holistically integrated institutional framework, the PSSM assists in developing policies for safe venue operations and is responsible for executing and enforcing programs, best practices, and protocols to mitigate risk and enhance public safety and security operations at Tanglewood. The position promotes and practices information-sharing, diplomacy, and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders as operational imperatives and thinks and plans strategically and with an institutional focus. Performs other duties as assigned. Special Conditions: Ability to work in a leadership capacity, manage stakeholders, and provide operational guidance and support to professional traffic, law enforcement, security, medical, fire, public safety, crowd management, and other emergency operations service providers in a dynamic customer service environment, under pressure, with frequently changing priorities. Must be able to solve problems in the absence of written guidelines, remain calm under duress, and interface with internal and external constituencies at all levels in the spirit of diplomacy, respect, and collaboration. Required Education and Experience - A bachelor\'s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement other related concentration with at least 10 years of experience in law enforcement, emergency services, campus safety or a security-related field. A master\'s degree in criminal justice or business/management is a plus. - Leadership skills and significant experience in managing the work of others. - Excellent analytical, communication, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills. - Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies, regulations, and procedures that govern or promote campus safety and security. - Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheet, and other Office programs. - Ability to work independently, make decisions, think and plan strategically and with an institutional focus, solve problems, provide situational leadership, develop effective internal and external relationships, build cohesive teams, and have a desire to lead, innovate, and improve. - A collaborative orientation and experience working with diverse populations.
