POD ABaltimore, MD 21209POSITION SUMMARY : Reporting to the Administrator and/or Director of Finance, the Financial Project Manager is responsible for the budgeting, reporting and management of Health System & University financial activities of the Department. This position coordinates various accounts, and may also assist with department wide financials including rate setting, capital budget consolidation and reporting, contracts, joint agreements, endowments, general funds, discretionary accounts and cost centers. This position is responsible for reconciling the movement of funds to/from accounts of the assigned department. This position is also responsible for the design, implementation and training on policies and procedures for the capital budget process and for university-based service centers. This position is responsible for developing reporting systems for feedback to responsible parties including Service center Profit and Loss Statements, All Funds Budget variance and projections, and revenue and expense analyses. This role will perform financial analyses as required to maintain fiscal control and explore program opportunities within the Department. This position will be responsible for maintaining databases as required to support the administrative systems and to perform analytic functions. This position will be responsible for accounting of income and expense ledgers and supporting managers with their budget projections and changes. With other department Managers and Assistant Directors, this person will establish and implement systems for forecasting, requesting and managing capital funds within JHM and JHU. The person in this position will coordinate with JHM and JHU financial management regarding billing reconciliations, capital reporting, quarterly JHU financial reporting, monthly projection and variance analysis, position control management and other reports as required. Provides additional support and/or coverage in the absence of the Financial Analyst(s) and/or Finance Director.A. Education:

Master's or other advanced degree preferred.Requires knowledge of basic accounting and financial principles; financial analysis techniques, spreadsheet and database software applications; current trends and issues and health care; general knowledge of professional fee or hospital based billing/financial operations is preferred.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; ability to conceptualize and develop financial models for various projects taking into account the impact on all JHM & JHU areas; communication, presentation and reporting skills; ability to work with and get along with all types of employees (physicians, and other clinical personnel, administrative/financial personnel and central administration).CPA is preferred but not required (inactive status is okay)Five or more years of experience in finance. Some experience in either university or hospital financial operations is required. Must have intermediate experience in Excel and ACCESS. Additional education may substitute for years of experience.Must operate general office and communications equipment; word processing, spreadsheet and/or database packages.DIMENSIONS :A. Supervisory Responsibility:Responsible, with the involvement of the Chair, the Administrator, and the Director of Finance, for producing and reconciling the annual budget of the Department for JHH and in working closely with JHU/SOM department finance leadership. Maintain continuous involvement with leadership of the department to ensure that all factors are considered for the annual budget. Coordinate with other departments for financial activity involving assigned Department such as grants and contracts involving the department faculty, or Hospital JAA funds from one Functional Unit to the assigned department.Recommends changes/improvements in procedures and/or processes; recommends new business opportunities as the opportunities present, organizes and prioritizes work to meet changing priorities.Manages adhoc financial teams assembled for individual projects; this could include clinical, administrative/financial personnel from the department and/or central administration.PROBLEM SOLVING:

Uses analytical skills to analyze historical data and future projections, to analyze financial challenges and provide corrective action. Must be able to see the full JHM view; which includes JHH, JHU, and Affiliates as well as outside contracts.INFORMATION MANAGEMENT :Demonstrates strong skills in Excel and Database development & use to perform duties. SAP skills. Must be able to see the relationships among various data sets from various sources; has familiarity with hospital-specific systems & resources, professional fee-specific, and available external health care databases.WORKING CONDITIONS :While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, see and hear. May sit or stand for prolonged periods and occasionally required to walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, touch, feel, and type. May reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Prolonged vision requirements including viewing computer screen, paper reports/documents, charts and results.While this position sits primarily in an office area, there is occasion to work or interact throughout our department which includes a clinical/research laboratory environment - Exposure to toxins and infectious agents exist, but potential for personal injury or harm is minimized if established safety and health precautions are followed. Working in laboratory where there may be discomforts due to odors, noise, temperature fluctuations, and working around lab equipment.May transport equipment and supplies usually less than 40 pounds from one area to another (example: paper supply or files box)In some areas work space is confined; therefore mobility may be difficult.Staff may be required to complete annual competency review, and must insure compliance with Laboratory Policy & Procedure, Health, Safety & Environment regulations, and all applicable privacy & confidentiality laws/practices. Must be detail oriented, organized, and accurate.Position may involve travel for consultation purposes to various work locations throughout the geographic area (example: Affiliate hospitals). In the event of a declared emergency all JHH staff may be required to report and assist with assigned duties.Apply
