Job Description
The Director, Privacy Compliance Program Management will be the primary lead for the development, maintenance and maturity of core tools and controls for AbbVie’s global privacy program. This new role will lead a new Privacy Compliance Program Management function within AbbVie’s Global Privacy Office to accelerate the maturity of AbbVie’s global privacy program and enable AbbVie’s U.S. and International privacy teams to elevate their privacy support for AbbVie’s commercial and corporate functions.
This position will work a hybrid work schedule at an AbbVie location in North Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities:
Manage and provide strategic leadership to core global privacy program tools, systems, and controls, including but not limited to data subject rights tools and processes, data classification tools and processes, cross border transfer impact assessment requirements, data protection impact assessment requirements, and record of processing activity documentation.
Primary lead for all aspects of global digital privacy compliance and strategy, including website and other digital asset privacy governance.
Manage privacy related training, awareness and change management communications across the enterprise.
Develop and manage privacy program knowledge management governance, including but not limited to transparency templates, SharePoints, guidance, and presentations.
Manage and mature privacy governance and assessments for AI and emerging technologies.
Develop, manage and mature data retention and data minimization initiatives across the enterprise.
Manage and provide oversight to privacy related incident response preparation and response matters.
Manage and provide oversight to privacy related aspects of data loss prevention and insider risk matters.
Support monitoring and analytics initiatives related to privacy program risk and maturity measurement and assessments.
Manage and lead the Privacy Compliance Management team and represent the function as part of the Chief Privacy Officer’s leadership team.
Closely partner, connect and align with peers in Privacy Compliance leadership team and periodically report on progress of the program to the US & International privacy compliance team
Closely partner with cross-functional partners and peers (e.g., compliance operations, information security, technology solutions, third party risk management, corporate digital, procurement.)
Closely partner, connect and exchange with peers in AbbVie’s broad cross-functional matrix.
Collaborate with Legal Privacy as needed for relevant matters.
Qualifications
Undergraduate college degree required. Juris doctor or equivalent degree preferred.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience developing and operating a global privacy program.
Strong experience with privacy related matters in the digital and advertising technology ecosystem.
Strong background in U.S. and EU data privacy requirements
Experience advising on privacy matters related to the processing of health information preferred.
Ability to write clearly and prepare professional communications for both privacy colleagues and business stakeholder.
Detailed and rigorous organizational and analytical skills.
Experience working with and across the full corporate structure in a matrixed corporate environment.
Strong collaboration and influencing skills to operate in a global organization.
Experience in people management, coaching and team leadership, with proven people management abilities.
Ability to work with and influence leadership.
Strong leadership skills, and able to build compliance commitment within the AbbVie organization.
Comfort and sensitive to cultural differences through interactions with stakeholders in multiple countries.
Experience working with and advising multinational affiliates across markets.
IAPP Certifications, such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E, a plus
Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
