DIRECTOR OF PROJECT DELIVERY POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director - Project Delivery collaborates with the firm's President, Vice Presidents, CFO and other Directors to help manage companywide operations in support of growth plans, KFI standard procedures, tools and technology, Project Manager capability, and quality expectations. The role supports project management excellence, resourcing, tools, training, and end-to-end project guidance where needed. A proven leader, the Director - Project Delivery is an exceptional communicator, facilitator, negotiator and delegator.
The Director - Project Delivery maintains an objective point of view and is adept at adjusting focus depending on how the enterprise is being impacted by growth, current market drivers and economic fluctuations.
Additional Essential Responsibilities
Per the direction of the President and VPs, receives the annual budget and backlog goals, and helps advise on resource planning.Helps forecast annual talent hiring needs in partnership with the senior team and HR.Drives consistency in Project Manager focus areas, processes, systems and tools.Creates and implements common design, software, and project management standards.Facilitates staff sharing and right-sizing activities in support of established billable rate goals.Works with Operations Directors and Department Leaders to improve key success metrics such as profitability, efficiency, and backlog.Evaluates the contractual approval process and find ways to streamline it and look for efficiencies.As Manager-on-Duty (MOD), provides coaching and mentoring to the Chair of the Project Management Operational Excellence Committee (OEC). The PM OEC creates a culture of high-quality project management within KFI through the consistent application of project management practices.Evaluates current Project Management support structure and the people resources needed to develop and coach them.Oversees development and maintenance for the project management aspects of the firm's ERP software system. Develops dashboards and reports, enabling project managers to effectively utilize project performance data. Provides support to marketing and human resources in the creation of dashboard and reports relative to those departments.Leads annual Project Manager training and development efforts.Prepares for and attends KFI management and board meetings.Works with the senior leadership team to formulate, implement and update corporate policies.Deeply evaluates monthly financial performance reports and looks for ways to improve profitability. Tells the "story behind the story."Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations to improve business procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.Minimum of 15 years' experience managing projects in the design and construction industry.Experience drafting or reviewing contracts in a construction setting.A pragmatic and applied approach, while at the same time bringing a creative examination of customer (internal and external) needs and solutions.Design and project management experience across a variety of markets.Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction and the ability to establish rapport and credibility both externally and internally.Strong influencing skills and self-confidence.Naturally collaborative and possesses the ability to assimilate a range of ideas, programs or alternatives into a set of recommendations.Self-directed, but thrives in an environment where consultation and collaboration lead to superior outcomes.Skill with:
