They operate throughout the US and Canada.The Role:The Corporate Controller is responsible for all daily accounting operations, providing timely and accurate financial reporting, developing and enforcing policies and procedures, establishing and maintaining internal controls, and providing financial expertise that helps drive effective business decisions. The Controller is responsible for providing strategic financial guidance to leadership, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and leading the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures that contribute to the overall success of the organization. They will ensure comprehensive, accurate and timely financial statements and reports, presenting key insights and trends to leadership. They will develop and implement internal controls, minimizing financial risks while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. They will coordinate successful external audits. They will hire, train, manage and develop accounting staff providing consistent guidance and constructive feedback.Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications typically associated with this role:Responsibilities:Accounting Function:
Oversee diverse accounting operation to ensure timely and accurate financial statement reporting. The function includes full cycle accounting, general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expense reporting, inter-company, accrual accounting, and consolidation.Monthly Close:
Identify and implement procedures to make the close and reporting process more efficient and accurate.Financial Reporting:
Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Assist with KPI reporting as required.Policy Development:
Create and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, laws and regulations.Risk Assessment:
Conduct financial risk assessments and recommend appropriate gap closures and maintenance.Systems:
Work cross functionally to drive the selection, implementation, and execution on all upgrades of financial systems and processes to ensure we maximize our use of technology and streamline operations that scale with our complex and fast-paced growth. Oversee accounting and/or business system implementations to ensure compliance with internal controls and risk assessments.Audit and Tax Management:
Plan, coordinate, and lead annual external audit and tax return efforts for the organizationTechnical Expertise:
Provide technical guidance on various accounting matters including revenue recognition, lease accounting, stock-based compensation, business combinations and other relevant topics that arise. Lead the research and interpretation of complex accounting topics and transactions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement accounting strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.Budget Management:
Develop and manage the accounting department’s budget.Leadership:
Supervise and mentor Accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment by promoting cooperation and teamwork across departments.Qualifications:Education:
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.Experience:
Extensive experience in Corporate Accounting, 5+ years in a managerial or leadership role preferred.Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.Certifications:
CPA or CMA preferred.
