Hatchery Manager

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the position of Hatchery Manager for our Turlock, CA turkey hatchery! This position is responsible for leadership of our Turlock hatchery facility, ensuring consistent output and delivery of high-quality poults to customers. Manages the team to meet quality and biosecurity/animal welfare standards and overall production goals in a collaborative work environment. Strong candidates will have a proven ability to build a high performing team while optimizing production processes. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
Adept team-builder with experience in managing and motivating employees
Demonstrated effective leadership, ability to delegate tasks to appropriate team members
Strong organizational skills
Proven problem solving and change management ability
Strong communication skills including written, verbal and active listening.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs required
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or 4+ years related experience
Experience with budget formulation preferred
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Knowledge or experience in embryology is a plus
Normal duties will include:
Manage to achieve optimum quality and hatchability of all poults produced by hatching facility through established policies, procedures, best management practices and collaboration with senior management and veterinary/tech services.
Plan hatching schedules for variety of poults considering such factors as customer orders, hatchery facilities and equipment.
Direct and coordinate hatchery activities such as hatching of eggs, sorting, vaccinating and shipping of poults, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Maintain positive customer relationships by meeting needs and trouble-shooting any issues.
Develop and implement policies and practices for operation of hatchery to ensure attainment of goals and an efficient operation.
Hire, train, develop and evaluate hatchery team members.
Create, maintain and interpret hatchery records on biological performance, costs, bio- security.
Produce reports on hatchery activities such as poult production and reports required by regulatory bodies.
Arrange for purchases of equipment and supplies.
Additional duties will vary according to the needs of the hatchery.
