Position Overview:Rare Genomics Institute is seeking a talented UX/UI Designer to join our fully remote volunteer team and lead the design of our LLM chatbot. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about creating intuitive and engaging user experiences, particularly for users who may be facing challenging health journeys. Alongside product leaders, software engineers, and solutions architects, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our chatbot interacts with and supports its users.Key Responsibilities:Design Engaging User Interfaces: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and final designs for the chatbot interface, ensuring an intuitive and accessible user experience for all users, including patients, caregivers, and medical professionals.Conduct Remote User Research: Collaborate with the team to understand the needs, behaviors, and pain points of our target audience through user interviews, surveys, and usability testing.Create User-Centered Designs: Apply user feedback and research insights to refine and iterate on designs, ensuring the chatbot is easy to navigate and delivers a positive experience.Collaborate with Product and Technical Teams: Work closely with the Product Managers, AI/ML Architect, and Software Engineers to align designs with technical capabilities and project goals.Ensure Consistent Branding: Collaborate with product leaders to maintain a consistent look and feel that aligns with RG’s brand identity, creating designs that are both visually appealing and functional.Qualifications:Experience in UX/UI design, preferably with a background in healthtech, SaaS, or similar.Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar programs.Strong portfolio showcasing experience with user-centered design and a keen eye for detail.Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices for designing inclusive digital products.Ability to conduct user research and apply findings to improve design decisions.Foundational understanding of large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.
