We are currently seeking talented damages and forensic accounting leaders to join our growing office in Los Angeles in the role of Associate Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Exceptional analytical skills, solid quantitative training, remarkable communication skills, and creativity are the foundation for successful professionals at Secretariat. Successful candidates will join an expanding domestic and international business valuation and damages quantification practice. Our Los Angeles-based group works on large and complex commercial damages matters involving misappropriations of assets, post-acquisition disputes, forensic accounting investigations, and a myriad of other domestic and international disputes. These cases will give successful candidates exposure to unique, complex, interesting issues, often integrating finance, accounting, economics, and legal principles.

Conduct economic, financial, accounting, and industry researchAnalyze financial and non-financial information, and report findings to other team membersAssist with the preparation of damages, forensic accounting, and construction quantum reportsAssist with the preparation of critique reports examining the conclusions of other expertsDevelop positive relationships with colleagues, peers and clientsCommunicate with clients and counselPrepare for and attend hearings, trials and mediationsManage the day-to-day requirements of multiple engagementsQUALIFICATIONS
Requisite professional designations and work experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar, from an accredited university or college7+ years of prior experience in economic damages and/or forensic accountingPrior experience at one of the 'Big Four' accounting firms would be an assetHolder of or pursuing CPA, CFF, CFA, CFE, or ABV credentials is a plus
Strong expert report writing skills to complement analyticsAble to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations and develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problemsThe ability to manage and prioritize your time and your team's time, potentially against a backdrop of competing deadlinesThe ability to manage team members, both junior and senior, as well as external stakeholdersThe ability to work independently whilst knowing which issues and risks need to be highlighted to senior staff, ideally accompanied by suggested viable solutionsExcellent analytical and problem resolution abilitiesExcellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skillsThe desire to lead, auxiliary tasks associated with a growing practice within a rapidly growing firmHighly proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPointThe ability to travel as neededWorking proficiency in a second non-English language is a plus
