General Information
Purpose :The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for identifying, understanding, defining, documenting, and acting upon the business's needs for changes in processes, policies, and information systems. The role involves gathering and synthesizing business requirements for moderate complexity software, systems, processes, and services, ensuring business objectives are met. As a functional expert, the Senior Business Analyst serves as a key liaison between the business area and the technical or software development team.
Essential Functions:20% Requirements Gathering and Analysis :
Interpret business needs and issues by gathering, eliciting, creating, analyzing, documenting, and validating user and technical requirements.Collaborate on project plans to define, organize, and schedule requirements management and development activities.Facilitate requirements analysis and verification sessions and participate in tracking and managing open issues.Participate in development sessions and design reviews to ensure the design meets user requirements.
20% User Acceptance Testing :
Oversee user acceptance testing, including documentation, verification, and release.Implement practices for end-user test plans and document gaps in requirements or system deficiencies.Lead communication efforts with stakeholders and provide guidance and training to application end users.
20% Problem Identification and Troubleshooting :
Identify, document, and troubleshoot problems using experience and knowledge of system relationships.Collaborate with stakeholders to monitor, report, and resolve issues, and develop solutions or workarounds for complex problems.
20% Documentation :
Review, analyze, and create detailed documentation of business systems, processes, software, and user needs.Ensure written documentation of requirements is clear and well-organized, and develop key project deliverables.
10% Project Monitoring and Coordination :
Monitor and report project status to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring quality and timely deliverables.Coordinate projects from concept through implementation and manage new work requests.
10% Policy and Process Support :
Answer policy-related questions for business processes, systems, and software, requiring research and consultation.
Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related fieldExperience :
5 years of progressive experience in business analysis, systems analysis, testing, or other analytical rolesIn Lieu of Education :
4 additional years of relevant work experience required if a Bachelor's degree is not held.Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions on timeUnderstanding of core business analysis competenciesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) :
