Description
Position Characteristics
Under the direction of the Director Senior Engagement & Activities, the Senior Site Coordinator (Coordinator) provides nutritional services to the assigned center and ensure proper coordination of center activities. The incumbent is also responsible for proper cleaning and sanitation of the center(s) creating a safe, positive and inviting atmosphere. The Coordinator will promptly and timely process all forms, documents, and information, by following agency processes, policies, procedures and instructions.
Duties and Responsibilities
To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council on the Aging, Inc. "serving the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as long as possible."
Prepares, serves and ensures proper support and implementation of the nutritional services program to seniors at the designated center.Provides congregate or drive-thru meals to clients and other participants in accordance to the departments manual accordance to ADA and federal, state and/or local health codes.Ensures accuracy of inventory, maintenance/cleanliness, and proper equipment functioning of agency equipment.Calculates, receives and process donations received at the center.Cleans and sanitizes centers to ensure a safe and inviting facility for clients, volunteers and/or visitors by following proper protocols.Ensures center is cleaned and prepared for daily and inspection.Develops and facilitates engaging activities that strengthens and enhances the lives of the clients.Documents activities and engagement at the center in various methods, including but not limited to photographs, videos, written reports, and collaboration with the Marketing Department in a timely manner.Promotes positive relationships with partners, volunteers, visitors, etc and provides recommendations to management and assists with scheduling for presenters at the centers.Accompanies clients on trips, activities and agency-wide events which may fall beyond normal work schedule.Ensures client documents are maintained, updated and processed according to department and agency procedures.Prepares, maintains and process verbal/written reports or information of all forms and sign-off sheet, requisitions to ensure proper operations of the center.Promotes the center to increase client participation beyond the nutritional service program.Trains approved volunteers to ensure knowledge of processes of center and respectful treatment of all clients.Secures and monitors facility security and safety by locking doors, setting and/or disarming alarms before and after hours.Performs any other duties deemed necessary.

About the Organization
Since 1973, the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) has served the aging population of East Baton Rouge Parish through a spectrum of nutritional and social services. Additionally, the EBRCOA is charged with both meeting and discovering the growing needs of the ever-increasing aging population.Central to the EBRCOA's mission is service to seniors as well as the maintenance of their personal independence and the enhancement of their storied lives. As such, our mission is simple:Supporting Independence - Serving Seniors.
Said mission is made real through a variety of community-wide programs such as:• Meals on Wheels (home-delivered meals to homebound seniors)• Congregate Meals (hot meals at 15 different sites/senior centers throughout the parish)• Information and Assistance (trained counselors are available to answer questions, provide a thorough assessment of needs, make appropriate recommendations of services, refer individuals to other EBRCOA-related services in addition to other community-wide agencies/services available to the aging population)• Personal Care/Homemakers (trained caregivers providing in-home care; house-cleaning; laundry, respite, etc.)• Family Caregiver Support (assistance for caregivers tending to individuals 60+)• Health Screens (comprehensive screens at each senior center: glucose, immunizations, nutrition, referrals, etc.)• Insurance counseling; utility assistance (cable, electricity); Medicaid applications.Today, our parish proudly welcomes more than 85,000 seniors to East Baton Rouge (eagerly anticipating the opportunity of reaching out and positively affecting each and every seasoned citizen).With the help of eager, altruistic individuals and organizations, EBRCOA looks forward to meeting the challenges facing the aging - exceeding their expectations through innovative solutions met by unique, care-based services.
