Employment Specialist

to work in our

Drums, PA

location. The Employment Specialist is responsible for training individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the critical skills needed to gain and maintain successful employment.

Starting pay is $17.50/hour

FT New hires are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $500.00, and PT new hires are eligible for $250.00, after working all scheduled hours with no unexcused call outs, complete all required trainings, and fulfill all required trainings. Additionally, must successfully pass the 90-day introductory/probationary period per the ED’s approval including performance standards.

Responsibilities

Support individuals through the employment process, including developing a resume, applying to jobs, and interviewing with potential employersTeach individuals independent job skills and requirements utilizing job task analysis and job specific supports, including assistive technology and personal assistanceWork with individuals at their job to assist with analyzing tasks, breaking tasks down into manageable components, and completing their assignmentsIdentify and help solve problems before they become a crisis for the individual, employer, or coworkersBuild a support network between individuals and community membersCommunicate progress updates as needed to the employer, family, staff, and managementEnsure program documentation and billable records are completed accurately and timelyReport program status updates on a regular basisEmployees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigationAdditional tasks and responsibilities may be assignedMinimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferredValid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving recordMinimum of two years of relevant experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesComplete all state and agency required trainings per state guidelinesAbility to work individually and with a team to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesAbility to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supportsAbility to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management skillsWhy Community Options?
