The school administrator reports to the Principal and is evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools/Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

MAJOR DUTIES

Demonstrate commitment to and support for the vision and mission of the system and schoolEngage daily in communication and collaboration with middle school principal to support goals of the buildingAssist the principal in supervising and evaluating school-based personnelAssist in developing, implementing and evaluating instructional programs and activities at the assigned schoolAssist the principal in providing an atmosphere conducive to learning and teachingAssist in coordinating the selection and acquisition of instructional materials and equipmentAssist in coordinating all testing programs at the schoolAssist in the supervision and management of the school siteAssist in the coordination and supervision of before and/or after school programs or activitiesAssist in selection and employment of school personnelAssist with the development and implementation of an effective staff development programImplement school board policy, state statutes, federal regulations as they pertain to the assigned schoolAssist in overseeing programs for students with identified special needs, e.g., Special Education and 504Assist with development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan, other Title I related plansMonitor and screen substitute applications; interview and facilitate substitute training for new substitute hiresAssist in identifying and writing grants to enhance school goalsFacilitate the implementation of the code of student conduct in accordance with school and system policy to ensure a safe and orderly learning environmentAssist in developing and implementing family and community involvement programs and initiatives such as business partnershipsSupport and assist in implementing the school's student services plan and program; network with staff to support at risk studentsAnalyze student performance data as a basis for curriculum improvement and staff development needsAssist in the selection and supervision of substitute personnelAssist in developing and monitoring the school budgetAssist in managing student accounting and attendance proceduresAssist in supervising transportation services at the assigned schoolPrepare or oversee the preparation of required reports and maintain all appropriate recordsAssist in implementing and monitoring Special Education programs and servicesModel and maintain high standards of professional conductSet high standards and expectations for self, students, staff, school and othersUse appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishmentsFacilitate problem solving by individuals and groupsCounsel with parents and staff to resolve problems and concernsAssist parents in contacting school and agency support servicesMaintain visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at school-related activities and eventsUse effective communication techniques with students, teachers, parents and other stakeholdersAssist in preparing and disseminating school newsletters, memos and lettersMake presentations to faculty, students and parents as requested by the principalCollaborate with school and system personnel in planning and implementing system initiativesAssist in developing and implementing positive public relations for the schoolAssist the principal in the development and implementation of procedures for dealing with school crisesDeal with emergency situations quickly and effectivelyDeal effectively and appropriately with abuse situationsInvestigate student accidents and other incidents and take appropriate actionServe as a member of the district management team. Communicate and cooperate with other administrative units to achieve district goalsPerform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this positionCarry out any other duties assigned by the Superintendent and Assistant SuperintendentCoordinate and monitor grant-related activities in cooperation with Assistant Superintendent, if applicableAssist in supervision of after-school activities and special functions (proms, dances, events)
