into its Phase 2 production facility, bringing us to 10 acres! Phase 2 encompasses a greenhouse facility along with a production barn. This is a state-of-the-art, controlled-environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality.

JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Plant Manager oversees daily production, greenhouse, and shipping operations. This role is responsible for executing production plans, managing Team leads, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring safety compliance. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Assistant Plant Manager will support achieving production goals and ensure smooth operations through effective team leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional coordination.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Support & Management
Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing daily production and greenhouse operations.Support scheduling and execution of production activities, including planting, sticking, finishing, and hydroponics.Collaborate with the Greenhouse and Shipping Supervisors to align activities with production goals, ensure operational continuity, and minimize bottlenecks.Manage inventory and production quotas with purchasing and shipping teams to ensure seamless flow of materials and products.Assist in implementing and adhering to SOPs across production and greenhouse processes.Leadership & Team Management
Directly supervise Team Leads, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of new staff to maintain an effective workforce.Provide performance feedback to supervisory staff and assist the Plant Manager in performance evaluations and management of disciplinary actions.Plan, schedule, and oversee daily/weekly work plans to ensure resource allocation meets operational demands.Collaborate with Team Leads to train staff on operating tools, machinery, and automated vehicles safely and effectively.Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures, collaborating with supervisors to enforce adherence among all employees.Serve as a Safety Committee liaison, promoting a safety culture within the greenhouse and production areas.Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure a safe working environment.Implement corrective actions for any identified unsafe work practices or hazards.Continuous Improvement & Strategic Planning
Assist the Plant Manager in evaluating operational processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing efficiency-enhancing initiatives.Collect and report key performance metrics, supporting data-driven decision-making in partnership with the Operations Controller.Participate in operations and planning meetings to discuss issues, contribute ideas, and ensure alignment with company objectives.Communication & Coordination
Facilitate communication between departments, including purchasing, sales, production, and shipping, to align production schedules and address issues.Serve as a point of contact for production issues and assist in troubleshooting to maintain quality and efficiency.Metrics & Reporting
Ensure the accuracy and timely reporting of daily, weekly, and monthly production metrics, collaborating with supervisors to track productivity and identify areas for improvement.Assist in preparing budget reports and communicating budget goals with the CFO and Plant Manager.Other Duties as AssignedPerform additional duties that support the efficient operation and achievement of company goals.Assist in strategic projects or initiatives as directed by the Plant Manager or CFO.Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong leadership and managerial skills, with experience supervising multiple departments or teams.Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data management tools like Power BI, Business Central (BC), and Excel.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to motivate, develop, and direct team members.Proven experience in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:
Green Belt Six Sigma Certification. Black Belt preferred.Lean Certification6S CertificationEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in business, industrial management, horticulture, or a related field is required.Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a production or greenhouse environment.Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is preferred.Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
