Construction Quality Control Manager,
for our operations in Oregon. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes for heavy civil construction projects. This role ensures that all construction activities comply with the required specifications, standards, and regulations while maintaining safety, cost efficiency, and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities:Develop and Implement Quality Control Plans :
Create and maintain project-specific Quality Control (QC) plans aligned with client requirements, industry standards, and contract specifications.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Develop Work Plans, Submittals, and RFIs :
Work with the project team to create work plans and ensure they are being implemented as created.Write and deliver submittals and RFIs when necessary.
Monitor and Inspect Construction Work :
Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of construction work, including earthworks, foundations, concrete, paving, drainage, and other heavy civil infrastructure.Identify any quality issues, deficiencies, or potential risks during construction and provide solutions to rectify them.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain thorough documentation of all inspections, testing, and quality control activities.Generate daily and weekly QC reports, including non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and performance summaries.Work closely with the project management team to ensure timely communication of quality issues.
Coordinate with Project Teams and Stakeholders :
Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and suppliers to ensure that materials and work meet required quality standards.Act as the primary point of contact for all QA/QC matters and ensure all stakeholders are informed of progress and issues.
Manage Testing and Inspection Procedures :
Ensure proper and timely testing of construction materials, such as soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.Manage third-party testing agencies and ensure their adherence to the project's QC requirements.
Develop Continuous Improvement Initiatives :
Identify areas for improvement in construction processes and techniques, and lead initiatives for continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.Implement best practices in construction quality management.
Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards :
Work closely with the safety team to ensure all quality control activities comply with safety regulations.Participate in safety audits and inspections related to construction quality.
Training and Mentoring :
Provide training and guidance to site personnel on quality control processes and best practices.Ensure that field staff are aware of and follow all quality control requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.Minimum 8-10 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in the heavy civil construction industry (e.g., roads, bridges, tunnels, dams).Strong knowledge of civil construction materials, methods, and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.).Certification as a Quality Manager (CQM) or similar accreditation is preferred.Proficient in quality management software and reporting tools.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Working Conditions:
Primarily field-based with some office responsibilities.Requires regular travel to construction sites.May involve working in varying weather conditions and extended hours during peak construction periods.
