About the role:
The Hardware Compliance Engineer will manage unlicensed and licensed radio compliance testing for all regions ensuring Skydio products meet all requirements for successful launch.
Location : This is an office-based position that requires at least 4 days/week onsite at our HQ in San Mateo, CA.
How you'll make an impact:
Apply your expert experience of 2.4, 5 & 6 GHz unlicensed band global regulatory conformance testing and your WiFi knowledge to own our global conformance test function for our full portfolio of vehicle and controller productsUse your in-depth radio technology experience to diagnose and resolve all types of RF and protocol compliance issues discovered in-house, local, and international 3rd party radio conformance test labsApply knowledge of modular and system-level radio certification strategies and effective use of a myriad of radio test tools to prepare and enable test samples for successful test campaigns at 3rd party test labsOperate in-house unlicensed (FCC Part 15, ETSI EN 300 328, EN 301 893, Japan MIC) and licensed (PTCRB, TIS, TRP) pretesting labs to pretest key compliance metricsWhat makes you a good fit:
Served as principal in-house or 3rd-party lab radio conformance test engineer with many successes ushering a wide range of radio product types through the radio conformance test pipelineSolid working knowledge of radio test standards, procedures, and regulator-provided guidance published by FCC Part 15, Part 20, Part 22, Part 90, ANSI, ISED, ETSI, Japan MICLeverage relationships with various local, national, and international radio conformance test labs to determine the most suitable routes for parallel projectsPassionately execute through preparation, testing, and reporting phases to meet critical product launch milestonesFamiliarity with CTIA test plans and carriers' OTA specificationsExperience operating RF testing equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, signal generator, RF communication testers, Cellular Callbox, OTA anechoic chambers, reverberation chambers, C-SAR)Experience troubleshooting problems with test equipment, test platforms, and devices
Compensation : At Skydio, our compensation packages for full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of options, comprehensive benefits, and various incentives and stipends. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 (dependent on final leveling).
