Data Engineer Intern - Master's
United States, San Mateo: this position can be performed fully remote, hybrid, or fully in person at the SIE-PlayStation San Mateo office.

About the Team:
We are looking for a Data Engineer Intern to join the Information Capital and Data Strategy team within the Sony PlayStation environment.The ICDS Data Engineering team has grown rapidly over recent years in response to a growing need for the business to leverage data to advise and shape key decisions, and to identify new opportunities. A Data Engineer Intern will be required to work within the Data Management team, and a successful applicant will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the data processing platform. As an intern, you will fit into a highly skilled team and work with limited supervision, under your own initiative.
What You'll Be Doing:Engineer data pipelines and provide automated solutions for Data Engineering teamsWork proactively to address project requirements, and articulate issues challenges with enough lead time to address project delivery riskSystem monitoring and alerting, dashboards, charts/reports and alerts deliveryEnsure code is fully scalable, maintainable, and performantVerifies program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programsWork with Project Managers and Business Analysts to ensure the timely delivery of project deliverables that meet requirementsRequires ability to work in a global environment across multiple timezonesParticipate in the agile development processDevelops new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guidesWhat We're Looking For:
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field at an accredited institution, with an expected graduation date of Spring 2026Strong understanding of coding and scripting languages, including Python, Bash, and KornSkilled in SQL and a variety of database technologies - Snowflake and Oracle, AthenaExperience with big data technologies and AWS servicesExperience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Airflow, Jenkins etc.Knowledgeable of ETL programmingExperience in designing and architecting medium to complex systems, proficient with design standards & frameworkGeneral knowledge in Linux, Unix Administration and Windows AdministrationKnowledge of Dimensional ModelingGood technical analysis & troubleshooting skillsEligibility:
Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
